Catenacci looked out of place----- the game seemed too fast for him. Do you really think he gets another game?
The other call-ups have at least looked like NHLers... |

Great but yet again Jan, another frustrating blog on another frustrating loss in another game that was within their reach of winning. As I mentioned on your last blog, you couldn't fault their effort and compete level in having 5 regulars out injured. But that was just prior to hearing Hank on the post game show, as you stated, say later in key but not exact words, that "they had to go for the win no matter how many were out today".
So, is the coaching staff's system indeed holding the players performance levels back this season? You rarely see 3 players simultaneously going hard to the opposition's net enough to press for offense. It's too much spreading wide with too many pass attempts when in the opponent's zone. Nor as well are the players getting enough pucks simply to the net when a good shooting & scoring chance opportunity occurs. That's especially so when they are in the middle higher scoring zone areas where they should create havoc in front as well. Kreider's loss for likely the remainder of the season kills them also in that regard.
But A.V. once again, seemed not to take this loss as hard as Hank did, in A.V. mainly being happy with the players' effort & battle. Hank wants to win more than he does, as also per his other sarcastic & rightly so, "AWARDS" wording he used on A.V. as well. They likely had something of meaning against A.V., & his failing "prevent mode" system he appears to use, (along also with Arniel & Ruff possibly). That's allowing the opposition to nearly always dictate the flow, which leaves their goalies out to dry. So someone has to take the hit here soon, because A.V.'s system would never permit any top 10 to 20 ranked NHL players to utilize their top offensive skills if they were Rangers today. |

Catenacci was one of the last players I expected to be called up, Schneider wasn’t an option? AV loves his older players even if they’ve been career AHLers |

The lack of depth is very concerning, with the injuries of late and Kreider being out likely until the end of the season I think the smart thing to do would be to sell at the deadline. Nash/Grabs/McD, see if we could resign Grabs and Nash next year in FA and call it a day. |

Who do we blames yesterday's loss on? I vote Shattenkirk, obviously. |

It is pitiful. Absolutely, no top end talent in system or on the team now. I've never even heard of that kid who was called up yesterday! A long rebuild is a coming

I don’t think a long one, if we can get a good return for Nash/Grabs/McD and are able to resign Grabs next year we should be ok if Chytil or Andersson are ready. I like Letteri and think we have a relatively young forward group if Chytil and Andersson can make the jump next year.
Kreider Zib Buch
Miller Chytil Zucc
Andersson Hayes Vesey
Grabs/FA signing Boo Letteri
Take some of the picks from Grabs(1st) Nash(1st) McD (2 1sts?) Holden (3rd/4th?) and improve the defense. |

I think the frustrating part here is we supposedly improved the defense this past off-season. Deleting Klein and Girardi, adding Shatty and D'Angelo were "the improvements" and it just hasn't worked out at all... |

Who would’ve thought subtracting 2 defensive defenseman for 2 offense defenseman that play subpar defense wouldn’t help improve the defense
Klein hit a wall and he looked done, Girardi looks like the injuries from last year are gone and is playing fairly decent down in Tampa. |

It is wht it is, you are replacing 5 NHL players with 5 AHL players. This roadtrip might be quite painful if Hayes, Grbas and Staal cant all dress |

After seeing the start time, I decided to bail. Well, maybe I can watch the first. I've been trying to be more responsible with getting more than 6 hours of sleep.

I would give him a few games to try to catch up, preferably home games, but this is his shot. |
