He didn't play. Couldn't get a flight out of Toronto last night (it was canceled) and delayed today to where he couldn't arrive in time.

Leir, Laughton and Weise had a rough night. MacD did what Custard should have, RETREAT. Manning also sat back to much.

Refs seem to put away the whistle, then they did'nt

Good to see Provy and Patrick have a good game, Simmonds getting a 5vs5 goal, TK getting a good goal and for the 2nd game Weal was probably their best forward.

we already knew provy was special but thr way he bounced back from that horrible pens game just says it all.

Enjoyed the win, but damn, all we can put together on our 2nd PP is Weise and now Manning to go with Weal, Patrick and Provy? I don't understand why not try TK back on there?

As well the Amac and Hagg pairing is not very good and really get hemmed in their end way to much.

I thought they played pretty well, IMO.

I think the problem with A Mac and Hagger together is A Mac giving easy entries. Then it snowballs.

Bill -- you forgot to add (and introduce) TK as a goal scorer.

Great write up otherwise!

I was excited to see TK score on a breakaway for a change.

I don't see that. What I see is MacDonald carrying that pairing. Hagg should be sat out for a few games to reset in my opinion. He gets beat wide by a defenseman and fails to get stick position on Pulock's goal. MacDonald for whatever reason no matter how well he plays, he gets criticized.

Added, thanks. I always write the point-getters in the top section right after goals are scored. In this case, I was still putting in the 1st Clutterbuck goal for the Islanders when the Konecny goal was scored and I forgot to circle back on it.

its just being honest, he is not bad, he is just a 3rd pair D in this league. I do agree Hagg should sit and watch a few games. SanHeim should get back in for either Mac, manning or Hagg.

in other news Ghost continues to be one of the best players on the ice. They have no one who can fill his role, he still makes mistakes but what D doesn't? By the way a good reason to get Sanheim in, all the D makes mistakes

In this league very few D can run the point on the PP like Ghost

Bill,

If Goulbourne gets in the lineup Saturday against the Blues, who is likely to sit? For me I would prefer it be Weise so the 4th line can be more of a speed line.

Bill --
It was interesting to read what Hexy said about Hogberg. You can tell the Flyers highly rate Hogberg.

What do you think about Hogberg timetable to the USA? Do you think he comes over next season, or one more after that?

Sanheim cannot replace MacDonald on the Flyers defense corps now. MacDonald plays too big of a role on the Flyers.

Solid game and intensity, just wish they'd maintained their focus in the 3rd. I agree with the earlier posters that Sanheim should be back in for the next game and, IMO, it should be Hagg that sits. I feel he needs a few games in the club box just to take a step back.

If they can maintain this intensity they could get back into the playoff conversation, but we all know that this team will often go into 3-4 game lulls. Not sure why they always seem to do that over the past 5 seasons.

some nice positives last night.....Haven't been a fan of Weal, but last night he moved a lot better and was engaged the entire night. His skating really opened up the ice for Patrick who at least to me played a solid game....I think I saw him actually throw a hit!! Nice to see Konecny rewarded....reminded me of last years world championship were he was flying all over the ice and looked like a game changer over there.
Negatives....the 4th line was brutal....I don't care who comes out Weise or Leier...they both were terrible. I also wouldn't mind seeing Raffl back on the 4th line with Laughton and Leier/ (or someone with foot speed) in the future....was one of the best 4th lines I've seen on the Flyers for years.
Hagg and Macdonald were caught a few times but it's tough because the other pairings are working. They are both capable of 5-6 pairing minutes but they have to be better.
also....Hak Please give Elliot a rest. Your going to run your # 1 into the (frank)ing ice if this keeps up!!
anyway good effort sparked by some nice tussles. took me back.

nice to see them win, but they have to start being consistent if they want any chance of a post season.

elliott needs a rest and neuvirth is going to have to be good. he's capable. but will he be? or will he get hurt again just from breathing?
