I was also going to say that Rick Nash didn't play well last night

and, it kind of debunks the theory a bit that AV ALWAYS favors his veterans

Nash played 13:50 with 18 shifts

He's been very unproductive lately

All for trading him at the deadline, there's no production from the Hayes line

I'd like to pick up a Vanek maybe at or around the deadline, still a useful RH shot we need

Cheap bottom 6 production and I can't find a single other RH option that might be available come deadline time, I am intrigued by a deal for Reinhart if Buffalo is really cleaning house

I'm extremely happy with this 4th line right now

I really dont think the 3rd and 4th line need any help. Nieves is solid and only getting better, Fast is terrific and Carey is fine with me, especially at that miniscule cap hit.

Agreed. NYR isn't going to make a deep run, so might as well get something for him. Maybe resign him in offseason for 3-4 mill / 2yr.

I was thinking to myself last night that I was not seeing him on the ice much later in the game.

I am frustrated with him at times but in response to getting rid of him, who is going to come in and be much better offensively? You also lose a forward who can and play in any role especially on the PK.

There's literally no production from the 2nd and 3rd lines, Nash, Hayes, Vesey and some how Miller and Zucc have 42 points between them but only 9 goals combined

I will be shocked if they are sellers at the deadline in any way unless they really drop off.

He's been here for 5 plus seasons and I can't say he's scored a real big meaningful goal in that time, it's not coming, great two way player but we have a enough of those

I don't know how much trade value Nash really has anyway

speaking of Vanek, that one year the Islanders thought they would get a bushel for him at the deadline and they ended up getting Richard, Rangers would be better off keeping Nash than panicking for some crap deal

That's the rub. Would love to see them win cup, of course, but do they really seem like they have a chance? CLB, NYI both have NYR's number, and facing Pitt, TB in playoffs as well doesn't bode well.

Like Brooks said, Gorton has a tough job ahead. Will NYR let Nash and Grabs walk this summer w/out getting anything? Have no problem resigning both of them, but wouldn't be against trading them both at deadline and getting them back in offseason
Slippery slope this year.

Agree completely. They are better with him than whatever return they are likely to get. Unless some idiot GM gives up a 1st rounder or good young player/prospect. Not gonna happen.

He would bring back a 1st rounder from a team making a push!

Happy days ..... Am I the only one very pleasantly surprised by our year so far....We are still in the mix with this lineup... We have average D, well below average center, average wingers and average goalies.... Parity is a nice way of saying watered down talent... Everyone has a chance I guess...I think we have a great shot at the cup this year...We beat Tampa, Pittsburgh , Ottawa, Edmonton, etc.... we could beat anyone. Bring on the Islanders, Devils..

all I hope for in November and December is points anyway they can

I know the team isn't perfect and isn't hitting on all cylinders

I wish the trade deadline wasn't so damn early (Feb 26th)

I am afraid we still wont really know what we have in this team at that point. Wish it was about 2 weeks later.

Other than the Hayes breakaway in the beginning of the game, that line was not very good last night. Meh it happens and we got 2 mother (frank)ing points. All that matters

I thought Mcdonagh had a pretty solid game esp early on

I agree on Nash, havent noticed much in the last 2 weeks from him

No easy answers anywhere.

I will say this. I feel this team is constructed pretty well except for the backup goalie and the thin center ice position. If they bolstered those weaknesses or somehow landed a difference maker down the middle they could go to another level.

Chytil and Andersson are also down the pipe.

I don't know if that is entirely accurate. They have also had a light schedule. Sometimes he has been a monster just not scoring. (I know, I know) Maybe he'll go on a streak soon.
