The Flyers are a so-so team that is short one of their better Dmen, yeah that's AMac and that's the reality right now, and for the forseeable future will be missing their other veteran Dman. Now that Dman may be an idiot, but he does contribute on the PK which was abysmal today. When teams like this struggle, they find ways to lose. It simply is what it is. Right now, they just don't have the overall talent to overcome adversity. They can't afford the small lapses that are killing them right now.

Today's lineup featured 4 rookies, an AHL Dman, 2 2nd year guys and some mediocre vets. Until they are healthy, this is what it will be . Often more than anything it's depth that separates the good teams from the bad.

Help is on way. Personally, especially when it comes to forwards, I think the GM is a bit too cautious when it comes to development, but I'll just have to live it.

All that being said, there are a few things I hope to see soon:

Weise out of the lineup. If Lindblom isn't ready, give Vecchione a shot. Weise needs to go.

If Weal is out for the next game, waive Read and give Martel a look

Find someone someone to replace Lappy as PK coach asap, he's had ample time to show improvement and I just don't see it.

Other than that, we're just going to have to be patient and hope these highly regarded prospects we've been stockpiling get here soon.

two straight games blowing a 2 goal lead.
PK is showing zero improvement. 3 PP goals against in one period is absurd.
9 losses in the last 12 games.

It's still early, but this doesn't look like a playoff team. Sooner or later you have to start making some progress.

Up 3-1 at home and lose. No excuses they are a poor team in this league. It’s not like other teams don’t have talent coming up.

PK had been on a 14-for-15 run and 83.3 pct for month heading into today. Today, it failed.

To me the whole organization simply accepts mediocrity....lazy players on the back checks....coaching that won't hold any of the leaders responsible and a GM that can't or won't do anything to help today's Flyers.
Patience....fellas ...patience.

I hear ya, but I still think next year is the make or break year. A few more stiffs will be gone, Ghost will be in his 4th season, Provorov & Konecny in their 3rd, Hagg, Patrick and Sanheim will be second year players and Morin, Lindblom and Vecchione should all be full time players.

Get off to a crappy start or miss the playoffs next season and Hak has to go. Also if they miss this year and again next, Hextall should start feeling major heat as well.

All true, but overall the PK has been mediocre at best for a long time.

I guess when a team is in a tailspin you don't notice things like that. Something has to give soon if this keeps up.

Yep, we need the PK to play at that level for the entire season.

I wouldn't even call next year a make for break year. I would say the playoffs are a must next year. Read will be off the books next season, but you still have Lehtera and Wiese. There are some positives. Top line has been great, and Provorov is really fun to watch. Ghost has played well too. When there aren't any results it's hard not to be frustrated.

I agree they have to make the playoffs by next season. Weise and/or Lehtera might be here but they shouldn't be in the lineup. Manning will likely be gone and I'd be fine if they moved Gudas too as I think both Morin and possibly at some point Myers will be in next year's lineup.

Either way, this is the last year I give them a pass.

I'm on the fence with Gudas. He has had a poor year but has played well for the Flyers for long periods in the past. I don't know what is going on with him this season but I keep expecting him to snap out of it.

I hear you, but he's been average or bad in just about every game he's played this year and the moronic penalties and lack of self control have really grown tiresome. If everyone is healthy, it's hard to see him belonging in the lineup right now.

I'm not advocating giving him away, but RH shooting Dmen have value, even imbecilic ones. If a good deal comes along, Hextall shouldn't be hesitant to move him.

Sitting in the arena today all I could think of was how many Metro games have we played?

Really. Today was one of those games that really you take the point and walk away.

True. However it would certainly be nicer to be heading into those Metro games in solid playoff position than on the outside looking in. Once you get to that point where you have to leapfrog multiple teams to get in, it becomes a very difficult task. It also doesn't help that many of the teams that are just 2 or 3 points behind them have multiple games in hand.

When you are at # what in defense depth chart on the ice a point is good. Alt really shouldn't be a Flyer this season. I'm not excusing Gudas being a dumb ass but today in the scheme of things is really a game we should be happy with a point. I really believe with Gudas and A Mac we win today.

Is the tide starting to turn concerning MacDonald here in Philadelphia?

AMac is what he is. I view him this season as Therien to Rico. Coburn to Kimmo.
