Right on!
How was Jesu? Still good?

Balmorhea was great, just in a modern-classical way.

- Fenrir

Short set, but trippy as hell. Most of the other bands were of the trip hop/electronica/techno heavy bands variety but all pretty good, one was 3 DJ's dressed alike in hoodies & bandannas over their faces, def different then what I was expecting but a good night all around.

Got home after 1 & had to be up at 6, feeling like Danny Glover..."I'm getting too old for this sh!t!"

Got to admit since Buch came back from the 4th line he has been on fire. I'm on the record as thinking it was dumb move, but it looks like he is handling Buch like he did Miller. Miller would get put on the 4th when he wasn't playing to what AV wanted.
- mdw7413

He should have never been dropped from 1st line to 4th, with that rationale why hasn't anyone else been dropped to the 4th line to "motivate", AV just doesn't trust youth enough, after 2 years he gets more comfortable but Buch has played 11 games in his career so far of 16 and a half minutes or more and has proven with the time he can produce but that doesn't mean poop to AV

When it’s just me. This blog always returns to hockey talk.

No, talking about how the team can improve when they sucked it up all over the ice isn't talking hockey, maybe you should just visit after a loss, you're not gonna stop with the nonsense so I'm not gonna stop coming at ya Jimmy, I've gotten a few PM's about your nonsense towards those who oppose your homeristic view of this organization

you are basically in a quandry or quagmire (giggidy)

you act like you hope the Rangers win but you hate AV with such a passion and the only thing that will get him fired is losing

so what is it Vin, what do you want more, the Rangers to win or AV to get fired?

by the way, Alain Vigneault is the best coach in Rangers history. I know that statement bothers some people, but it's reality.

That loud boom heard West of the Hudson River late last night was either:
(1) "Smelly Finger" using his smelly finger to burst the gas pocket out of Chris Christie for good, or
(2) Tomburton and Kreiderbomb wrestling in their steel cage match up to see who the finalist will be to battle Jimmy on this Hockeybuzz site, or
(3) Both of the above.

Yes, A.V. certainly is so Jim, although he was really beginning to have me even worried there for a while with their worst first 8 to 10 games start in decades, with no excuses to use such as numerous key player injuries as the Anaheim Ducks are encountering right now.

Every coach has a shelf life and it’s still possible AVs is coming to a close. But any fan who actually roots for his team to lose so that a coach to get fired may as well just become a Devils fan.

I think Jim that Vinny will only be happy if both the Rangers won the Cup, and fired A.V. simultaneously.
Unlike Jan or I, he claimed that he is, after all, a Yankees fan, who just saw Joe Girardi lead them to within one game of making the World Series, but not be brought back for 2018. And he knows their history with the number of times that George fired and rehired Billy Martin as manager, in addition to I believe, firing Bill Virdon as manager very late in one season, despite the Yankees being in 1st place at that time. (That was similar to when Lou Lamariello fired head coach of the Devils, & ex Rangers player, Robbie Ftorek very late in one season with them in 1st place, to take over the reigns himself through the postseason.)
But if A.V. were ever to be fired, we all know that Vinny would never want him ever to be rehired as coach of the Rangers.

That's ironic and funny because Vinny always gets on Devils fans through his various means here, including the ones who are no where to be found when their team doesn't play well, in his sort of ways inferring that they are front runners, and don't know hockey.

It’s all about the Devils for Vin. That’s why he is obsessing over Buchnevich’s icetime so much. He’s probably in some sort of Facebook spat with a Devil fan where they are touting their young players and he wants to fire back with Buchnevich

two biggest fears I have with the team right now are:

Brendan Smith. He has been absolutely awful and this contract looks like a nightmare, I don't know how they can get him back in and help him get his game going when they are still so desperate for points after the horrific start

Pavelec: I am really concerned about him. I think he is a rebound MACHINE and I dont trust him at all in net to give Henrik a night off.

- jimbro83

I agree 100% Jim.
Smith's defensive play had now regressed back to last season's when he was with Detroit, who as a result, had no intention of re-signing him anywhere near his demands. But he turned his defensive play around here, & was a needed physical force in that Montreal postseason series win, warranting the Rangers to re-sign him. A.V. saw enough after Brendan allowed his own brother, Reilly, to score those two goals, when he lost coverage of him, and landed down on the ice on both. But he will return to the lineup soon, possibly tonight against the always physical Bruins, despite Marchand likely out injured.
I was worried about Pavelec coming off his horrible season of losing his backup job with the Jets. It's not personal, in still feeling sorry for him after he collapsed down to the ice in a game while the franchise was still in Atlanta. His numbers, including save % were not NHL worthy last season, as he also suffered through injuries. After losing out on signing Nilsson and a couple others who signed for higher than they thought, Pavelec was relied on starting 20 to 25 games to keep Hank stronger for a possible playoff run. He was to replace Raanta's 16-8-2 record, which was why at his signing, I felt that their playoff hopes could come down to Pavelec's play in the end, should he not be successful enough in those 20 to 25 starts. Benoit Allaire can't play in the games for him.

Unlike players, I would think coaches need a Cup to be considered the best. Just my opinion but #Cupsmatter.

well in Ranger history, I think Emile Francis has always widely been considered their best coach ever and he never won it all either, so unless you are going back to the 1920's and 1930's with Lester Patrick when it was virtually a different sport than it is now.

Then there is Keenan who was here one year, won it and then bailed for selfish reasons.

you know what's really funny, and really ironic, Adam Clendening has played for like 10 different NHL coaches now, and no coach, not one of them, gave him more of a chance and more minutes, than Alain Vigneault did.

He usually scored assists with all the teams in his limited roles as well. Something wasn't right with what he was/is doing.

I still doubt AV gets you what you want. Doesn't Torts have a record about quickest wins or something? So is a successful coach considered in this thinking or just a coach that is successful with the team? Again, isn't success winning?

I'd rather a coach for a short period that wins a Cup & nothing else, than a coach that gets to playoffs 6 years out of 8 but never a cup.

then you get into specifics, like is Alain Vigneault really the reason they didn't beat LA in the finals in 2014 or Tampa in the ECF in 2015?

really hard to pin the blame on him for those losses, but AV haters will change history and do it anyway

the Rangers have done a lot more than "make the playoffs" under AV

they have won 6 playoff series, some of the best hockey we have ever seen around here
