Surprised by the numbers given out. Flyers must be strict on that now.

Smart money is for Manning to sit.

Sure can't wait for Mac to do that "A" proud as he becomes our worst defenseman on the blue line.

Dave Hakstol will prove he's an awful coach by sitting one of Morin or Sanheim.

Based solely on the mood of this board from yesterday, I feel fairly confident in predicting that the Flyers will go 0-80-2 for the season.

@Doc_Sarcasm what two teams do we snag a point from?

My bold prediction: PLind will emerge from the storm drain as soon as one of our opponents scores on us.

Time to take the training wheels off....excited to see what the new look produces. They still have some elite talent in my eye's. If they can get some solid goaltending and keep the core group healthy then I think they will make the playoffs.

couple bold predictions. well maybe not totally bold.

1) Giroux rebounds to score 23 G and add's 50 A for a 73 point season.

2) Ghost scores 15 and totals more then 50 points.

3) Patrick scores 18 G and has a 50 point rookie year...

4) Simmonds has a ho hum 30-30 season with 150pims

5) Lindblom is a Xmas call up never to see the A again. He manages to score 18 goals in half a season while taking his spot on the top pp unit and give Flyer the push they need to take the 7th seed.

6) 97 points seventh seed. Playoffs baby!!!

Looking forward to the opening of the season, the real shocker would be if I was still awake by the start of the 3rd period.

For all the doom and gloom around here, I'm very excited to see Patrick and at least one of the kids on D get their feet wet tonight and I'm also looking forward to following the progress of guys like Provorov, Konecny, Laughton, Weal, Leier and Ghost. I'm also intrigued to see how chemistry develops on the new top line.

Honestly, while I'd much rather see all 3 kids on D playing tonight and Lindblom in the lineup as well, I do think all the negativity we see around here is way overblown. Even if the Flyers won't call it by name, they are still rebuilding. All of the above mentioned kids will be here at some point this season and many more will follow in the next couple of years. They aren't ready to contend to by longshot right now and if they were, I'm pretty sure Hextall would have done a lot more to upgrade the goaltending.

I'm still willing to patient, I think that overall they are moving in the right direction and I believe they will be a strong contender by 19-20, and at least a solid playoff team by next season. While I don't see them getting in this season, I'll enjoy watching the kids and also having a pick in the first half of the first round in what looks to be a very good 2018 draft.

GO FLYERS!

Haha I certainly don't expect a debut close to Matthews with Toronto last season. But I don't want him to score his first for selfish reasons; in interviews he's said he tends to start slow but once he gets that first goal he gets going and puts it together. I'd like that for him especially after being goalless in pre-season.

C'mon, man, be realistic.

There's no (frank)ing way the Flyers will get 2 points this year.

My expectations of the Flyers this year:

I expect the Flyers to show better consistency and progression as a team. Hopefully battle for a playoff spot.

Consistency: No more years of one week they look like one of the best teams in the league then fall off a cliff and look they don't care for a month. Players have slumps, every single player having a slump at the exact time is unacceptable.

Progression: Flyers being one of the younger teams in the league (anyone know the exact rank?) I expect ups and downs, but also improvement as the season goes on. Veterans need to step up this year and take more responsibility for their play. Every team has player injuries and surgeries, it is no longer an excuse or valid reason for subpar play. Keyword being play, not stats. Individual stats will always be higher when the team wins. I expect better progression throughout the year as a cohesive unit since this is the team being drafted, built and assembled for the future.

Predictions are for wieners, I want a more enjoyable experience watching the Flyers this year.

GO FLYERS!
