Take Price away & you're left with a dumpster fire. Price would have been smart to sign elsewhere.

They also added Dman Jerabek from the KHL. He is an offensive D who would prob fit on the second pair and second PP

Lindgren holds down the 3rd string spot, could challenge Montoya as early as next year at backup

Decent review.
Are they going to be better or worse... hard to say.
as usual they will go as far as Carey can carry them on his back.

Outside of Pancioretty, the rest of the habs forwards are horrible.
Galchenyuk and Gallagher are not top line players. Gallagher is awesome. I would love him playing for the leafs, but on the third line.
Then it comes down to Drouin and what you believe Drouin is. He is not the superstar some people think he is but the real question is, is he the guy who sat pouting at home after being demoted to the AHL, or is he a true 60 point guy in the NHL.

Defense have more holes than Toronto, and Toronto's defense is considered bad at best.

I don;t see any other team in the NHL so reliant on a single guy. Price probably swings the habs by 30 points at least. I don;t think McDavid, Mathews or Karlsen do the same.

We haven't beaten the Habs in years due to Mr. Price being so good and the Leafs being so bad.
Hard team to read but I have a feeling this is the year the Habs drop out of the playoffs.

He hasn't performed up to potential but Lindgren and McNiven have been very, very good.

Are the Canadiens any better now than they were last season?

no. it's wash, rinse, repeat with this team. no matter how many blockbuster moves Bergevin makes he has never been able to address the main areas that keep this stuck in the second tier: lack of presence at center and lack of scoring. assuming they avoid a catastrophic injury situation they are a lock for a top-3 spot in the division and will likely battle for 1st down to the wire, maybe even winning the division again. but you just can't win playoff games scoring 1 goal and looking at this roster, i cannot fathom how they score goals in the playoffs.

you seem to be basing that on nothing other than partisan hope. there's no reason this team shouldn't coast into the playoffs. great goaltending, great coaching and enough offence to score goals against the dregs of the league.

Well... as long as there is no Leafs bias to your post.

Also, Lehkonen as been steadily adapting to the NHL all season and improved as it went by. I say he'll play a bigger role this upcoming season.

Great goaltending?: Absolutely
Great coaching?: A proven winner
Enough offense?: Not so sure. Can Drouin carry the load? Will Galchenyuk take his game to the next level? Will Pacioretty start to decline? Miss Markov's points?

You may be right but I see this team trending downwards. We will see

I think Markov will sign. As for the rest, Galchenyuk scored 30 goals 2 seasons ago, last season was one where he got injured and never seemed to pick up the pace when he came back.

I think he'll bounce back this season.

enough offence to make the playoffs behind a great goalie, yes.
