Hossa contract to Hurricanes possible
Hearing Hawks have been in conversation with Carolina about moving Marian Hossa's contract, a pick and a high prospect, with possibly a depth defenseman coming back. Though originally I heard a deal was unlikely, I've heard odds have increased as Hawks have raised their ante.

I haven't paid attention to the Hawks stable in a while but how do they have any prospects left for this or any deal? Didn't they trade most of them away? |

Only reason I can see for the Canes to do this was if they're planning on using the pieces acquired to make a stronger pitch for an impact C. |

If Hossa's contract is moved Bowman will probably get involved for Duchene but we will see |

Then the Hawks would have 7 third pairing D-men. |

They could just trade Hossa's contract to the Devils straight up with say a prospect (Debrincat?) and/or pick for Kovy and Moore (depth defenseman). |

John Jaeckel - HockeyBuzz Debrincat? Hartman (who is RFA after next year and likely getting a big raise)? I'd hate to lose Forsling or Schmaltz. |

Not a bad trade offer at all, I would think the Devils would think long and hard at that offer |

just a theory here......either they're going for Kovalchuk and a depth defenceman or Galchenyuk and a depth defenceman ..... I just hope it's not at the expence of DeBrincat!..... I don't understand y can't they just try him out worst comes they send him back a instead concentrate on trying to get 2 good depth D-men instead!! |

All Detroit had to do was trade down 15 to 17 last year to get rid of datsyuks contact. Though he has only one year left on it. And it turns out we gave up chychrun who may be a top pairing dman before all is sid in done |

As much of a joke as this is, Bowman would do it to get "flexibility"...for 2 months, whatever that's worth.

I think they (Chicago) are just trying to get rid of Hossa's contract right now before they do anything else. But to get rid of it they are going to have to attach something with his contract to make it worth while for other teams. He does have 4 yrs left on his contract and I remember the Devils getting a 2nd rd pick for just taking Savards contract a he only had 1 year left a 4mil. Hossa's is 4 yrs for 5.3mil so it's going to cost Chicago something to move it and it probably be a high-end prospect or high picks. |

These are who I believe are the Hawks best specs
F-DeBrincat-Electric, but a midget. Not overly fast either. Still, top end skill otherwise
F-Fortin-Came on last year and pushed for team. Sorta OK back on the farm.
F-Hayden-Not sure if a prospect anymore. Could be a beast with better feet
D-Forsling-Literallly the only prospect the Hawks have at D. Great feel, instincts, potential PP QB, but not really a top pairing guy
Meh Prospects-Gustaffson, Svedberg, Knott, Lewis, Hinostroza...all with potential, but nagging questions.
The Hawks have NO can't miss prospects. Their best guys all have big questions. The ONLY "top prospect" I'd say would be DeBrincat. I think he'll be a very useful NHL player even if size and speed limit his upside. |
