Seems to me Carlyle may be committed to putting Thompson up with Perry, like he finished the Calgary series.

Vermette might be the better center on paper...but Thompson showed a whole lot more hustle, and earned the promotion.

Dude...the Ducks were playing "Crash and Bang" hockey long before the current edition of the Edmonton Oilers figured out what checking was.

They never are. The Flames were the most penalized team this year and they STILL had more power plays than the Ducks. Face it, the Flames aren't good enough yet. Get a real goalie and you will be.

Ok boys ramp it up - keep the pressure on don't let the Oil carry the puck in - make them dump and chase - and let's hope Perry wakes up this round -

The focus defensively can't rest solely on McDavid, his linemate 29 is very dangerous and has been a Duck killer all year. The rest of their line-up ain't shabby either, Edmonton has much more depth than they have had the past few years.

This will be a very tough test for Anaheim.

Lets Go Ducks!

I predict that whatever team emerges from this will be fairly beat up lol. Couple of big, nasty, skilled teams.

Just imagine...if the Ducks could actually play with as much passion BEFORE the whistle blows, they might actually win a game!

A team can't win a cup with Kesler in their dressing room anyway, no chance.

Big time win for the Oilers tonight. But the ducks are tough, the Oilers are gonna have to have that killer instinct on Friday night to put themselves in a real good position.

That whole sequence was terrible for the Ducks. Larson skated pretty much the length of the ice while the Ducks just stood and watched. I agree with Gibson. He had a rough night.

Oilers tried the bank shot a couple times this game. They attacked Jones' 5 hole all series long. Looks like they're trying something to throw Gibson off his game.

Banks off a players skate and in. Happens all the time. I wouldn't call it terrible. There was nothing Gibson could do. "Unfortunate", if you're a Ducks fan. "Lucky" if not. Ducks got plenty of lucky bounces against Calgary. Edmonton got the lucky bounce, and rebounds, in game 1.

And a 5 on 3 (which one of the 3 had a broken stick). I'm not too worried as long as we can stay out of the box. When we started to apply heavy pressure and play our game, the Oil folded like lawn chairs.

The D needs to clean up in our own zone and get synced with the new lines, there were definitely some mishaps last night.

Not an ideal game 1. A loss isn’t the end of the world, but it’s not the way to start things off. I think Carlyle has given this team the ability to not be rattled like years prior, but that doesn’t necessarily equate to having more goals than the opposition. More goals for Anaheim and less goals for Edmonton. That’s the winning strategy. Where can this team be better?

The PK hasn’t been where it needs to be. Up until 2 weeks ago there was dominance here. What’s changed? The common theme I’ve observed is the opposing team is having too easy a time of getting set up in their offensive zone. Also, they’re winning puck battles and Anaheim isn’t clearing the puck 100% of the time. I got news, the PK has been scouted and the defender is looking to negate clearing attempts. More importantly though, I was thinking about the Stanley Cup winning season, and this team’s best penalty killer during that run was Todd Marchant. Marchant would get on his knees to block shots from the point. Furthermore, the guy held the blueline like the Spartans held the line at the Battle of Thermopylae. This team has given entries to the opposition on the PP like it’s no big deal. Well, I got news again! It is a big deal! Hold the blueline, be explosive when attacking and clear the (frank)ing puck!

If this team can’t find a way to execute and deliver, it might be time to book some tee times, because the Oilers don’t need much.

Tough loss, but good game. Ducks hadn't lost in regulation for so long that its good to get the loss out of the way early.

Fluky through the 5 hole and off a skate goal was a killer. Ducks know all about them from the first round so they were bound to be victims eventually. Coming back to score two goals and tie it up after being down 3-1 was great and shows Ducks can fight back.

Tough luck on the 5-3 with Getz's stick, but Ducks need to stay out of the box if they want to win the series.

Excited for Game 2. Going to be a great series.

Yeah, I was at the game and as the scoring celebration was breaking up, I saw Larson ask, "Who got it?" The guys pointed at him and he looked really surprised, then he led his team to the bench as is customary. It was a bad bounce at a bad time. The Ducks are fine at this point. But lose Friday, and it's panic time.

Hopefully Sami can get back soon. I've seen enough of our AHL defensemen getting lost in their own zone. You can shelter one. But two is too many.

no poop!! only thing that was better than that was seeing Kesler quivering when it looked as though Kassian was about to give him the business... what a female dog.
