Yea no excuse for not putting this game away early - Van played late last night and should be ripe for a nice win for the Ducks - and as it stands right now even 11 minutes is much to much for # 10 - he is just dogging it out there - actually holding that line back from being even better - and yes the D does need to start clearing guys out - but have to be careful as the refs may whistle them even more -

Clearing out "unwanted guests" is the part of the game Stoner is good at.

When is Carlyle going to grow a pair and bench Perry for a game? Perry shouldn't have seen the ice the rest of the second period against Toronto after that third penalty. Does Perry have to come up with a mysterious injury like Getzlaf did to get him going?

Good read. I'm excited for today's game, as it should be a good one. I don't expect Vancouver to just roll over and play dead. This is the NHL after all. However, the Canucks are in the way of two points. I'm sure their legion of annoying fans will be at the Honda Center, but that's the way things are.

I know I'm not the only one who has a grocery list worth of japes and jests about Perry's struggles. It seems even Ed's refraining from piling on more crap. Nevertheless, this team didn't let some goalie get in the way of a W on Friday, and I anticipate more of the same tonight. The even strength scoring needs to be better, as does the power play. I'm fed up with the opposition's goalie being the difference maker. This team has too many finishers not to be finding the twine regularly!

It starts with harassing. With Burrows gone forever, Vancouver consists of a bunch of _. However, being difficult to play against doesn't mean taking high sticking, slashing and hooking penalties. Jakob Silfverberg is the ideal player in terms of harassing. Based off his career PIM numbers you'd think he should be nominated for a Lady Byng trophy, but that guy is as difficult to play against as it gets. I'm ranting about this, because when every line consists of a player who's a problem, it wears on the opposing team. Lately, I've been watched a team that hasn't been difficult enough to play against, and I'll be damned if I watch them rest on their laurels and give away two points.

I'm hoping that this is just an off year for Perry, similar to what Getzlaf had a few years ago when everyone wanted to dump him. I was talking about Perry to a former player who was visiting from Montreal and he said Perry might need to get traded to a new situation. I asked him who would want that contract and he said all of the northern Canadian teams would take him and that Perry probably would waive his NTC for the right situation. I said I doubt he would waive because his wife wouldn't want to move from Socal to Northern Canada and he said Perry would make even MORE money in endorsements than what his contract pays him. That would keep his wife happy. I still can't fathom it but it was an interesting take from an ex-player.

If the nordics wanted a face for the franchise i could see that. But who knows when Quebec will join.

But i really wana see getzlaf and perry raise the cup once more. After that i could see them do a victory lap in Canada.

Ducks go whale watching. No need to go crazy, but it is frustrating.

It's late in the season to be looking to practice for answers, but it might be time to revise the drills they're doing for shooting and one-timers. It almost sounds laughable to suggest, but I'm tired of watching them get their chances and not find the back of the net.

Bachman is an average AHL goalie, starting his first NHL game in 17 months.
And the Canucks are basically an AHL team at this point.

No need to panic, quite yet, but this was as close to a layup as the Ducks have all season.

Time for some kind of wake-up call in SoCal. Can't be leaving freebie points on the table.

Yeah . The pacific division is like a mixed bag of Halloween candy. Sometimes you put your hand in the bag and get a snickers. Other times you put your hand in and grap a almond joy. A candy bar that defines the word nasty.

LOL. No kidding. Almond joy ALMOST the worst. Candy Corn takes it for me. Ugh. Worst candy ever made.

Bernier was Candy Corn last night.

Nice Forest Gump analogy. I also think Almond Joys are the armpit of candy bars.

I didn't mean to bag on you guys. I was a bit angry losing 2 parlays in back to back nights because of the Canucks

The reason you lost could very well be blamed on me for betting on you

But what a frustrating first two periods

Well that was less than satisfying - Vats fails to cover the only offensive threat Van has - doesn't take his stick or find the puck after our AHL goalie fails to stop a softball from the point - Unreal.... now tied with Calgary in points as the playoffs slip sliddin' away - Kes line was again generating chance after chance - Silf could have had a hattie with just a tiny bit of luck - and Kase we need you to hit the net from 10' out front -

Nope and nope. Old school retired former (short lived) captain of the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. Defenseman. Pretty decent golfer. Now works for a Canadian hockey club in the media field.

By the way, I haven't talked to Selanne in a looong time. Used to talk to him and Antti Aalto all of the time until Teemu cashed in and moved to Coto de Caza.
