Naw. The chirping has certainly been effective though.

So rumors of Oilers search for a top 9 forward become more and more apparent as Lucic becomes more and more of a bust. Can you even trade him at this point? Oilers appear to have only two real Catalysts which was never a problem in previous years. Nuge and Eberle never use to need a spark to create offense but for some reason they do now. Before this year either would have been defined as a play maker. The team either needs a forward that can generate offense and get those two going and one that comes at a reasonable price or a way to get Draisaitl on that second unit playing. Maybe give nuge the bump to wing with McDavid and Maroon. See what Eberle can do with Leon. If McDavid can turn Maroon into a player of some merit, maybe he can get Nuge back on track. They need a good versatile player. One that can do both wings would be great, even as a rental to maybe shake things up and get some spark back into that second line.

Quality of competition. Playing against the NHL's best night in and night out. All your fancy stats be damned if you can't see that Russel is provided a solid top 4 right side (his off side) option better than anyone I can think of in recent memory outside of Larsson.

No one is praising Russel like he is a superstar, but on a team lacking bonified top 4 defensemen for as long as they have you would think you would appreciate any kind of stabilizing presence.

Not exactly expensive. Only signed for one year... Complaining about Russel seems petty.

Klefbom certainly has not gotten any of your ire this year and his defensive play this year has been extremely suspect.

The Oilers running around trying to bury Manning and any other Flyer would actually be the best case for the Flyers. Two points tonight be damned, they need something to get them playing with emotion.

You guys are very fortunate you got the easiest schedule in the league this season; playing all the teams we played the night before. Your record would be much worse if you actually played fresh teams, not to mention you've barely had any back to backs.

Did Russell kick your puppy or sleep with your girlfriend?

Seriously, you write so much about it that many of us go over your articles and once we start reading your "Russel rant" we stop reading.

No matter what your awesome stats say (is that you Eakins?) Russell has been a welcomed addition to the blue line. We win more when he is around and that's all I care for.

Give it a break man

Really I think about how difficult it is. Teams keep coming to play us riding a big high from the confidence they got from playing you guys.

On the contrary, teams come to play us after a nice practice against a bubble team.
We don't get a chance to practice all game situations as they do!
It allows those teams to get their legs before coming for the real match!

Too bad we only practice with Calgary 4 times this year, those were really easy 8 points, wish we did more of that.

NAh

We've been the victim of the brutal schedule before. Stuff evens out

I mean we're unequivocally better than the flames and u guys aren't that far behind us . I think our respective records are pretty indicative of how good each team is. I don't think there's any major anomalies anyways.

The effect Connor and good goaltending has is by far the biggest reasons we're where we are. Not schedule imo

Why are you guys so obsessed with Manning? Guy's a fringe NHL player and yaps. Is this the 1st time McDavid has ever been talked trash to? How could he not be used to it by now? He's probably been the best player on every team he's ever played on.

McDavid's whining just makes him look like a baby. If he wants to do something about it, he should do it. Instead he gives little pushes after the play and says that Manning isn't man enough to answer the bell (against Lucic). I just looked it up and McDavid and Manning are about the same size. So why would he want Lucic to fight him for him? I mean I know why, but why would Manning engage?

McDavid, as an elite player and should be able to block out the trash talk by now. And if he can't, then step up and stop calling out a guy for not fighting a guy 30 lbs (?) heavier and fight him on his own.
