Ridiculous to give Nyquist 6 games for stabbing someone in the (frank)ing face with his stick, and giving Vermette 10 games for tapping the official on the back of the leg.

He should sit for the rest of the season.

I don't understand why Nyquist or Vermette are allowed to play again this season. Though to be fair to Vermette, him being allowed to play actually punishes the Ducks, so maybe he shouldn't even get a single game.

Vermette barely touched him.. I don't even think that he deserved a suspension

Having Nyquist coming back to the team after missing 6 games is enough punishment for the Red Wings. Having him miss the rest of the season would have been a gift for the team.

You can't touch the officials. It's pretty cut and dry. He was mad because he thought he got screwed in the dot. His response was to strike the linesman on the back of the legs. Albeit not a Savage swat, but contact was made. You can't do that.
Nyquist was making room for himself. The outcome was not his entire intention but I'm guessing he gets more room to work when he returns because of it.

Vermette is so bad the punishment should be letting him play. This is a reward for the ducks. OMG i'm so funny.

agreed with everything till Tessier got to the injury part where that number of games decides the suspension. for starters it would be impossible to gauge from the beginning not to mention teams manipulating the "injury" to make the suspension longer

Too severe. That's what Spurgeon deserves for the Islanders not trying to sign him.

Doesn't matter, the rule leaves zero room for subjectivity. Abuse an official: automatic 10-game suspension. It's black-or-white, there is no gray.

The punishment is on the fans... Nyquist suspension means more ice time for " All -Effort, Big Body " Riley Sheahan. Has there ever been a forward do as little as him with the ice time that's given????

Nyquist should've got 20, that to me would've been a statement. But the NHL doesn't make those so...

No consistency in the approach. If you want to make a statement, do it across the board. Gus let the frustration of the season get to him while Marchand has done the same thing for years....

Should have got somewhere between 10-30 games imo but the NHL DOPS is a joke.

Should Nyquist have been suspended longer? Perhaps. A stick to the face is not to be taken lightly. He could've put the guys eye out. But Brad Marchand slew foots two players in consecutive games and only gets a fine for the first one. A fine that is a mere nano fraction of his salary. Those slew foots are every bit as dangerous as a stick to the face. One good smack of the players head on the ice can damage the players health and career every bit as bad as a stick in the eye. The NHL is too wishy washy on this stuff. You want to make a statement to the players, then suspend Gus for the season, no pay. But do the same to a constant repeat offender like Marchand who will probably think he can get away with it since nothing was done to his last two incidents.

Im more interested in how the story changed from "total accident" to him admitting he did it on purpose. Think should of got more games for just being totally full of sht
