I wonder if Bobby Ryan dad will make the trip ?! |

|
|
Ryan's dad criminal record will not allow him to come to Canada I assume |

Coming to America is an upgrade at least. Toronto is nice also. |

I jump on Melnyk as much or more than anyone, but come on. This is ridiculous.
If money were the motivation, it would be WAY cheaper to buy them tickets and hotels in Miami and Tampa than it would in Toronto.
You guys ever seen Leaf ticket prices? Usually you see the Dads in a suite, too. I don't even want to think about what it would cost to get them into a nice suite at the ACC.
While flights may be more expensive with the Miami/Tampa combo, tickets and hotels would be way more with the Jersey/Toronto combo. |

I was just kidding around....the difference for all of them between NJ/tor and fla is probably less than 10K total. Doubt even scrooge mcmelnyk is that cheap |

Boring win, sure, but a win is a win. Start of the year, I thought Ottawa was just having another pixy dust season(every 2nd year), being outshot and outplayed, getting crazy goaltending and pucks finding a way in, but they are getting better and better and have a great forecheck going. Unless something drastically changes they are a playoff team easy. First place in the division is acheivable with the division having no great teams.
Maybe not a exciting team to watch, but a good one. |

I don't think it helped that the opponent was new jersey.........pretty much the most boring team in hockey for the last 2 decades. when they play against teams like wash, pitt, tor, etc the games are always more exciting.
I know it gets talked about a lot, but the system that boucher has brought in is fantastic. it's the first time in years that we have a coach who built a system for the players he has, rather than trying to get his players to conform to the system that he wanted to play.
all we need to do is get the PP rolling, and get ryan to start playing up to his potential......and maybe add a piece at the deadline....and I think Ottawa could make some noise in the east. probably won't compete with wash or pitt, but could surprise some other teams. |

Forget Ryan, he's a stiff. Only surprise would be beating Wash or Pit. They are as good as anyone else in the conference.Rangers are pretty good too. |

he's been good the last couple of games.......he was put on a line with pageau and pyatt and it seems to have woken him up.....for now. when Hoffman was struggling earlier this year the coach put him on that line and it turned him around, hopefully the same can happen with ryan. playing on a line with 2 guys who might not have the natural ability of a turris or stone, but who work harder than anyone on the ice pretty much every shift, can hopefully rub off on ryan...........if not, well then hopefully we can pick someone up at the deadline. I mentioned in the last blog that I thought vanek would be a relatively cheap add that could help this team out. |

Speaking of Hoffman, boy oh boy he didn't look very good last night. those two turnovers on the PP were awful!
