Didn't realize that if Florida is out of playoffs that jagr could be dealt. I know right side is pretty good right now but a line with Geno and jagr would be reallly fun to watch. |

Canucks put up a valiant effort missing 3 of their top 4 scorers and a top 4 dman... holding Sid to 1 point and denying him the opportunity to reach the 1000 against the Nux was a moral victory on its own considering the missing players. |

What's the deal with Ben Hutton? He came outta the gates last season putting up 25 points (I'm assuming PP time) but he seems to have regressed a bit. Bumped down to the 3rd pairing, he's only got 4 5v5 points I think. |

Sid could have had 4 points last night if, the passes would have been finished off. A couple of grade A scoring chances. Miller made a couple of really good saves. |

He needs to go down to the AHL and get his confidence back. He isn't playing like a NHL d-man right now. Problem is, we don't really have good D to replace him. |

I think it also depends on what you think the ceiling for the Canucks is this season. If they aren't making the playoffs, why not just send him down to play top pairing minutes in the AHL and get his game back, rather than give him limited minutes in the NHL when the Nucks are out of it? |

That is the problem between what the fans think and what management thinks.
I think Megna/Gaunce/Skille/Hutton all belong in the AHL.
I think the Sedins/Burrows/Hansen/Miller (albeit he is playing out of his mind this season) need to be traded.
I think the Canucks needed to do a full rebuild 3 years ago. Management see's it differently. The only difference between the Canucks today and the Canucks 3 years ago is that we did get a bit younger, we are still bad, and our prospect cupboard is better than it was. |

A valiant effort??? At one point, Pittsburgh had the puck in the offensive zone for 2 minutes and was able to execute a line change for all 5 players. Miller actually played well, but even when it was just 1-0, the game was all Pens. I mean, I guess you can hang your hat on the fact that they tried, but they weren't even in the same stratosphere last night. |

Hmm no mention of how Geno almost knocked a guy out in the first there infront of the benches. If he would have caught him on the chin could have easily been lights out, concussion all that. Suspension worth half a season like you were all saying last thread. |

have you been paying any attention to the western conference and how bad the Canucks have actually been this year? Add in the fact that they were without Sutter/Horvat/Baertschi (3 or the top 4 scorers). They were without Dorsett (wash) and Gudbranson (currently in our top 4).
Alex Biega (our 7th D man) was playing as a winger.
Brendan Gaunce (who was sent to Utica) was recalled to play in our top 6.
The team WITH all of our players is a bad team, so add in the above and it all doesn't seem that bad. Do you even watch hockey outside of your flyers? |

I thought the Canucks played a good tight checking 1st. Plus, the Pens gave them multiple odd-man breaks throughout the game. Thank gawd Skille had two of them. The 2nd and 3rd were all Pens....minus the defensive gaffes. |

When Rutherford goes to bed at night he must giggle himself to sleep when he thinks about what he paid to get Phil Kessel from the Leafs.
Basically a 30th overall pick the Leafs traded to get an average goalie and an often injured marginal guy in Kapanen who may or may not ever make it to the show.
We want a refund.

At one point in the game, Pens had turned the puck over 7 times at one blue line or the other. That isnt going to cut it playing against Wash, CBJ, or NYR. Probably not against Montreal either, now that Julien is in charge there. I dont think they will be an easy out anymore with him.
Can anyone hate Valentines day more than Michel Therrien? I seem to remember another time he was relieved of a coaching job on Feb 14... |

#jagrwatch2017 needs to end before it even gets started. Didn't people learn their lesson from the Iginla, Morrow, Murry additions that the worst thing you can do to a team like the Pens is add a player that doesn't fit just because he's a name player. I love Jagr and he will always be 1 of my top all time Pens but he needs to stay as far away from this roster as possible. Management already screwed up once by adding slow players to a team built around speed, thankfully I believe GMJR is smart enough to not even entertain the idea of doing it again.

What really kills me is that there were Leaf's fans that hated Kessel so much that they actually defended the return at the time and talked about how Toronto actually robbed the Pens.

Clearly I do, as I watched the Pens in the o-zone for 2 minutes.
Yes, I know they're bad as well as undermanned. But I guess you could call a bunch of 13-year-oldsm playing hard against Team Canada "valiant" as well. |

Not to rub it in, but you're also paying a little of his contract. |

No doubt Kessels passing ability if underrated but he needs to stop trying to make the pretty pass every time. Before he and Malkin connected, there was another 2 on 1 with them. He tried slicing a return pass to Malkin rather than shoot when he had a dwcent look. Obviously pass got blocked. |

Agreed, there were quite a few people who liked the trade. I was not one of them.
However you don't give up a guy who has finished top 10 in the league in scoring and has proven he can produce in the playoffs for hopefuls and spare parts.
I guess the logic was to be so bad they could get a top two pick, and it worked, but I still feel if they wanted to trade the guy they could have gotten a lot more. |

I was a bit on the fence about the deal to start, but after the Pens got Sullivan, I started to love the deal. The playoffs made me love it even more, and this year is just like rubbing it in their face. He has been everything here, that the Leafs thought they were getting. Now, I am sure it helps that he has a lot of help, but what the Pens gave up, compared to what the Pens are getting was robbery. Didn't the Pens get a 2nd round pick back in the deal and use it on what many consider the best goalie int he draft? I can't remember. |

If either
A) Skille had decent hands
or
B) Fleury was in net
Those 2 breakaways might have turned out different |
