I agree..... but it would be hard to turn down Owen Tippet or Mittlestadt. I hope one of them falls on our lap if we can trade Cammy/PAP and a second to the Ducks for Fowler so the Ducks don't lose him for nothing. |

What do the Devils have that would land Fowler? Just don't see that happening. |

Well obviously the Ducks don't want defense back as they're pretty stacked. So we'd have to give them picks, prospects, forward or combo thereof. Nothing jumps out as obviously a good fit - but that's Ray's job to figure out. Maybe use his Jedi mind trick and cap space and get it done.
Even last night against the AVs Moore and Lovejoy looked bad to me. I'd love to take these guys out of the lineup. |

We are loaded with draft picks and teams are up against the wall with the expansion draft coming if shero can trade Larson for Hall and a second and third rounder for Palms I'm sure he can work out a deal |

Arguable, but quite possibly overrated. But still, who on our D wouldn't he be an upgrade for? Outside of the Captain we have some parts with potential but not a whole lot. We need a guy like this. |
|
|
|
I read that most likely we wouldn't pick up another D before expansion draft- because we would then probably have to expose Severson- and that would be crazy
does this sound correct? |

That would imply we protect Lovejoy, Merrill and/or Quincey over him, right? |

Well he's working on a very solid season. If we can pry him for a reasonable price, why not? |
|

Did Shero learn nothing of the history of the Penguins? Tank. Tank. Tank.
Overrated or not, Fowler would be a welcome addition to the Devils. I just remember the start of the year when the Ducks were contemplating trading Fowler before he became all-star. |

I remember reading Shero might be getting us both Fowler and Shattenkirk. But all we got was Quincey. I actually like Kyle as a third pairing guy but this team needs a high end defender to stabilize things.

I just think he's going to cost more than he's worth. |

There's always a tax in getting someone to play in NJ.
They have $9M in cap space. Another $5M coming in relief of Marc Savard. Another $5M coming the year after that in Clowe's contract.
Their top six forwards (Hall, Henrique, Palmeiri, Cammalleri, Zajac, and Zacha) are all under contract, with Miles Wood to boot.
Literally, the only guy due for a raise is Severson. Devils can spend some dough. |

This is a really bad mindset to have. Just because he's better than Stollery or Merrill or whomever doesn't mean we trade assets like draft picks for him. That's how you dig yourself into a real hole. Build from the ground up, down look for a band-aid here and there. |

Or more importantly, they can take on a contract and stash it away. I think that's a really big asset to have right now. |

Seversons 5 v5 points per 60 (0.87) is very similar to Fowlers (0.82%). I'm not against getting Fowler, I just don't know that there is a such thing as a reasonable price for a young dman with offensive skills.
The cap hit is right (4 mil) but the term sucks (can be UFA after next season). Anaheim is going to want a significant return and I wouldn't part with a first or major prospect for him. |
