Really like what I've seen from Zacha in the second half of the season hope he turns into the first line center this team has been lacking for a long time |

Wood just doesn't understand the game all that well. His positioning on defense is bad and he struggles with offensive zone play at 5 on 5. This isn't unexpected, he went from high school, played one year in college, and is now in the NHL. Hopefully he can figure everything out or he probably won't ever be more than a 4th liner. Basically he's still raw. |

I feel like those "shot attempt" figures you post aren't really indicative of anything worthwhile.. Just one man's opinion. |

You make it sound like a 4th rounder than turns into a 4th liner capable of 10-15 goals a year is bad thing. Just having a 4th rounder make any impact with the big club is a win. |

They aren't really if you just look at one game, last night is a good example. But when you see a trend, like a defenseman who is double digit negative every night (Lovejoy), it's a pretty good indicator he is constantly buried in his own end. |

His career really took off after the draft. With his tools, particularly his speed and strength, I'd agree 4th line would be a disappointment for him. |

True.
I also find that watching Lovejoy being buried in his own end on a nightly basis is a good indication that he is constantly being buried in his own end on a nightly basis. |

Good point, I find that watching Lovejoy play hockey is like being punched in the face with a wet diaper. Too bad they don't make a chart for that. |

Well now it would be, sure.
But what would you have said at the draft?
Personally I can see him as a 3rd liner capable of short stints in the top 6. Just needs a bit of polish. |

Good. I like Kinkaid but I'm interested to see what Appleby or Wedgewood can do. |

I was thinking more along the lines of seeing if we can get nichushkins rights and seeing if he'd be willing to play in jersey. |

I'd be fine with that. But would like maybe a pick included. Nichushkin, I don't think can just come over if we got him, whereas Dallas, would get their guy right away. |

There is no way they trade Nichushkin for a goalie on an expiring contract who has never been a starter. It will most likely be for a draft pick, 2nd rounder if we're lucky. |

I'd be worried about trading for a guy that might not want to play in the NHL |

And their defensive prospects are decent (and big). |
