Last night's game was sure ugly with too little too late. This road trip is turning out to be like Napoleon's Russian campaign. Oh well, Chicago next.

I have a number of Lightning players on my Fantasy team so I benched Mike Smith last night. Oh well,

Perhaps trade Bishop if he will waive his NMC to St. Louis for Shattenkirk as proposed by a poster in last blog and Elliot Friedman.

Perhaps draft more defensemen with our lottery pick.

I dont know their cap situation but u cant keep everyone and team is desperate for dmen....

Plus STL would need more for Shatty bc D hold more value, plus Bishop is not having that great of a year....

Shatty is an UFA at season end just like Bishop. St Louis needs goaltending. Bishop has been injured for a large portion of year. Both would be rentals.

What team doesn't need help on Defense? Cap situation is tight but when Bishop moves on there will be some room. Players in contract years are not exactly impressing that they deserve HUGE new contracts. Most of RFA's anyway.

I get the rental situation but STL doesnt have to trade Shatty and can still get a reliable G thru trade, its easier to obtain a G than top 4 dmen.
Plus regardless of RFA's or not, team needs to trade off players somehow....

Things don't seem to be going well on Long Island for your team. When Tavares returns to Toronto, your team won't need to blow it up between Garth's genius moves and coaching turnstile.

Yeah, like Stamkos was coming home too...

U have bigger issues in 3-5yrs when Mathews leaves for the USA ....

Get some help now or have Shattenkirk walk for nothing at end of season? Bishop is the best goalie available based on previous 3 seasons. Playing behind a Hitchcock defense would be a breeze for Bishop.

Why doesn't Snow trade Halak to St Louis by retaining salary and getting a late round draft pick and a bag of pucks?

Halak needs to stay for expansion draft unless Snow acquires a G w/term this year. Bc a penalty is awarded, if isles fall out of race, I wouldnt mind Greiss

Hope springs eternal for Leafs fans but I am also a Lightning fan.

Matthews can go home to Arizona in 7 years when he is a UFA.

Islanders better clean out their front office if they want to keep Tavares. Tampa was close to winning it all for Stamkos deciding to stay in Tampa. No state tax helps too.

Expect there will be better and less expensive goalies available in draft.

Its not who's available for draft, its what team needs to expose for draft & isles only have Halak currently on roster w/term....

I understand the Isles need to expose him to the draft but I expect Halak will not be drafted.

I didn't expect the Isles or the Lightning to be so bad this season.

Bolts and Ducks need to chat on D for F swap - the pieces and more importantly the pricing I believe could be made to work - fills a need for both teams - Sami V and either Shea T or Montour for a couple of the Bolts young skilled F - let's make it happen -

Leafs don't need Tavares anymore since they got Matthews

I think its almost reality that the Bolts won't make the playoffs. They need to 20-10-3 just to get to 90 points and that is no guarantee of getting in. They more likely need to go 23-7-3 to get to 96 points and I just don't see it.

They will be sellers this deadline... Bishop and Boyle in my opinion are as good as gone at that point. I think some others might go as well. Will be interesting to see if Yzerman can move some some of his high cap contracts to retool.

This season reminds me of the Habs last year, they lost Price and fell apart. The Bolts lost Stamkos and fell apart (couldn't do like they did a couple years ago when he went down). This is not a bad team by any means, a few tweaks and next year they can be right back in the thick of it. Sucks Bishop will be gone but I have hope Vasy can shine.

Well any # of them - more importantly I think is the money Sami is at 4mil - Shea and or Brandon money is minimal - and Sami is locked in for a few more yrs at a very decent rate for a mobile RHS d man that can eat minutes - I don't know enough of where the Bolts stand on who they would be willing to part w/ as far as their future and how their money shakes out -

Off the forwards anyone not named Stamkos, Drouin and Kucherov would be on the trade block. Tyler Johnson is a RFA you can resign for about 4.5-5M and a 2nd for both Sami and Montour? Lightning are deep at C and weaker on the wings so if they deal it will be a C in my opinion.

As far as I'm concerned any of those work -- expansion draft is the wild card that I see for any deals with young guys - Ducks have to trade one of more of their young D or risk losing 1 for nothing in the draft - Rakell can play wing so any of those C from Bolts work for me -
Are the Bolts going the 8 & 1 route of 7 & 3 ?

Well I would do that trade, I think the Bolts have enough C depth to replace Johnson, suck to see him go but would be necessary.

I would suspect they would go 7 & 3 since they have so much depth at F.

Stamkos, Drouin, Kucherov, Palat, Callahan has to be protected, Filppula has to be protected. Leaves room for 1 more F if no trades are made and they have to protect Hedman and Stralman they are the only two good defensemen for the Bolts. So 7 and 3 makes sense. Can only choose to protect 1 of Johnson, Namestnikov, Killorn, Paquette, Jt Brown, etc. right now that have to be exposed of the forwards.

We are stuck with Callahan but ideally if Yzerman could someone trade Filppula it would allow the Bolts much more freedom. Rumors from the Bolts beat writer say St. Louis might take Filppula and his experience at the trade deadline.

Going to be interesting to see what happens to the Bolts in the next few weeks.
