Going to games in San Diego is a great experience. Get down here Duck fans. There were 12,980 of us last night. That's a sellout in our old barn. After losing the Chargers, is it possible the Ducks' next rival might be down here in a decade?

Although not my 1st / 2nd / or even 3rd choice / RC has made adjustments and compensated for some inconsistent play to guide this team to 1st place - the team is finding ways to win - I have no complaints - guys are playing hard & taking advantage of Stellar goaltending -

Hell no - I don't mind trading a dman or even 2 but that trade seems excessive -

Excessive for sure, but stoner is really the only bad contract that seems feasible to trade. Maybe Col could retain some salary on landeskog instead, but that doesnt seem likely (maybe more likely than them taking 3 dmen back tho).

I thought this seemed like a fair trade for both sides. Maybe montour instead of theodore

Concur 100%. Plus, I think Carlyle caused the mysterious injury to Getzlaf. He's completely exceeded expectations so far. Then again, I expected us not to make the playoffs.

Well Theodore or Montour we could do. But your only getting one dman of that quality . Theodore isn't a prospect any more . He's nhl ready. Fowler is not getting traded in a pakege that big . Maybe
Theodore
1 rounder
Stoner
For landeskog

January is always an interesting time of year for hockey, as teams are in the trenches trying to gauge if they're a contender with the All Star game, 5 day break and trade deadline in the near future. Obviously the Ducks are poised to make another run for the Stanley Cup. However, some management decisions need to be made, so question marks aren't taking the ice in April.

On the trade front, the expansion draft has loomed over every management team in the NHL, and one might wonder if we're going to see the first glimpse of the storm to come as GMs bunker down to protect their assets. Lots of dynamics are in play, as in the salary cap era frivolous gambles punish hard.

Right now, it's safe to say Jared Boll will not be taking the ice in the playoffs. Also, for defensemen there are a solidified top 5, a question mark, and then there's Holzer and Stoner. While I'm mentioning defensive depth, I think Simon Despres is out for the season. I don't know what his future is, but certain things supersede hockey, and that's just the reality. Also, Stoner's been out, but IDK if he's an answer at this point. GM BM has gone of record saying he wants 8 NHL ready defensemen for the playoffs. I think trading for any defense is idiotic, unless management really doesn't think Theodore or Montour can fill the void. There are 33 games left in the season and the #6 guy is still a question mark. Theodore isn't a regular in the lineup because of lack of execution in the defensive zone. Holzer's been impressive, but can it be sustained?

For forwards, I think Rakell, Getzlaf, Perry, Cogliano, Kesler, Silfverberg, Ritchie, Vermette, Kase and Cramarossa will take the ice for the playoffs. Shaw is responsible enough to be called on. Wagner is somewhere in there. Thompson's returning from injury probably within the next month. He's recovering from his second significant injury in two years. Nevertheless, I think he's hungry to make an impact, and will quickly fall into Carlyle's good graces. Can Cramarossa-Thompson-Shaw be called upon for 8 minutes in the playoffs? Yes.

GM BM is on the hunt for value. Good deals, to sustain success tomorrow, as well as today. I see a Stanley Cup competitive rosters if all pistons are firing. How much will BM and company leverage?

Internally, they can call on one of the rookie defenders, or look to Holzer. For forwards, it's pretty much get Thompson back into the fold and call upon Gulls if injuries happen.

Externally, they hit the trade market as buyers. Right now their draft trade chips for 2017 are:

1 First rounder
2 Second rounders (although one is tied to Bernier's potential playoff play)
1 Third rounder (again, tied to Bernier's portential playoff play)
1 Fourth rounder
1 Fifth rounder

Will this team part with a first round pick? Never. Basically a second round pick is the only chip in play to bring in an impact player.

To be frank, I think it'll be a quite trade deadline for Anaheim. I believe this team has yet to reach their full potential, and if they are able to; that'll be the contingency of success in the playoffs.

Bob would trade a first round pick for the right player . He offered a first round pick to Vancouver 4 years ago for kesler . But that trade never happened . It all depends on the player and where the teams at . Mostly with all the young players we have I'm not sure if going all in would be a smart move . But i like landeskog and duchene. Especially in duchene case because he's a center and that would allow us to keep rackell at the foward position. And you never know when players of that caliber will become avalible again . And Colorado isn't going to wait forever .
