Ryan needs to stop using these "words" and start posting more graphs and charts, the only true way to learn anything about the game of hockey.

Just happened to notice that Jake "Hit Man" Guentzel has the most hits/60 of any active Penguin player. That rate may drop over time but for now he's in Kunitz-Wilson-Hornqvist range. That's not bad at all for a guy who wasn't known to be a physical player, bringing an element we can sorely use.

From Yohe today...

• I could write about this every week but it’s worth mentioning. The time and effort Crosby puts in to reach out to children — especially those who are dealing with health ailments — is pretty special.

In almost every road city, there is a sick child who wishes to meet hockey’s greatest player. Crosby never, ever fails to accommodate them. I saw it in Montreal following Wednesday’s game. Crosby almost always speaks with reporters following games, but given that he didn’t have much of an impact in this game, he bowed out. So, did he hit the showers early? Did he get an early start to a fun night in Montreal?

Nah. He was talking, at length, with a boy in his wheelchair and the boy’s family. He had already presented them with gifts from the team. Long after the locker room had cleared out, he was still talking with the boy and his family. I see it in every city and it never gets old. The best hockey player in the world is an even better human being.

In this age where athletes sometimes act in peculiar ways and have a horrible habit of drawing attention to themselves, Crosby quietly goes about his business of treating people well without demanding any fanfare.

How were you able to comprehend what I wrote when all I used was alphanumeric characters with punctuation?

" I still need more evidence to be comfortable extending Schultz for both money and term."

I think this is a fairly stupid comment. Its all about risks/reward. If you wait until you are comfortable paying Schultz top 4 dman money/term (whose either UFA or 1 year till UFA) then you are going to be paying top 4Dman money/term. If you sign him before you are comfortable you are going to get it done cheaper. Its all risks/reward. If he's willing to do 4 years sub- 3.5 right now then you probably need to get the deal done. If you wait and he has a monster playoff run then it could be 4 years 4.5/year. If we just QO this year and he has a monster year next year then you are talking potentially Goligoski money.

So its much more of a question do you want to take some risks of overpaying him at a modest contract now or do you want to run the risks of having to pay top 4 UFA Dman money later. Sort of like the Niskanen situation a few years back where we could have signed him reasonably, but didn't. UFA came and he was a proven commodity and he got paid.

Hornqvist not being on that line is inexplicable.

FWIW 4 years 14 on Schultz would seem to be a good deal for both sides. Daley's money. And schultz would be young enough to enter UFA against around 29/30 and get another big deal.

I'm not too concerned on this. I think they just want to try some things out right now. If hornqvist isn't back with Sid for the last 15 games of the year and the playoffs then I start coming out on the idiocy of what their doing.

Agree with this. Wilson seems to playing with much more confidence than earlier this season. Maybe he can convert some of those incredible passes from Sid. Honest to God, if Sid were playing with somebody who could routinely handle some of those passes, the scoring race would already be over.

No I know. I'm Rust's biggest fan and I don't like him on that line. He's ok on Geno's right and great in the bottom six, but he hasnt meshed with Sid.

When you look at the quality of line mate the other top 5 in scoring have (Including Malkin) It's amazing where he is. Sid with Panarin, Draisaitl or even Eberle would ad about 10 more I think.
