As of right now LA is 2 mill over the cap(approx) Kessel is not going to LA. If anything the Leafs are taking someone from them

LA isn't over the cap at all, even if they keep Mike Richards. Where did you come up with that? They actually have about $5M of cap space to sign 5 players, 4 which will likely be under $1M (Shore, Weal, Forbort, Berube).

Makes sense if we include $10 M of cap space for 3 years. Oh can't be done? Yeah this ain't happening.

They said no go on Sekera already being re-signed. Voynov if he gets cleared replaces that spot, if not, he won't count on the cap. Kings have a bit of wiggle room, considering Lucic had retailed salary...3.6 mil? and Williams is as good as gone.

Voynov was suspended by the team for non-domestic violence reasons, meaning his salary won't count against the cap this season at all. Lucic will count $3.25M against the cap. It was already decided weeks ago that Williams and Stoll weren't coming back. Sekera was a casualty of the Lucic trade.

This is why I figure if Leafs and Kings talked, it revolved around Jake Gardiner.

Yea I don't disagree with that. There's really no room for Kessel in the Kings lineup now anyway, unless Pearson is going back the other way. The Kings main holes right now are at 3C and 2nd pair D.

Could've been Bozak based on that assessment as well, if your team is meh at faceoffs, as that's about his main value.

LA looking for 3C, wouldn't surprise me to see Bozak to LA. Reasonable asking price, reasonable cap hit. Would be great in the 3C spot.

You'd probably have to pry Bozak crying off Kessels C**k though.

I don't think the Kings are looking to pay upwards of $4M for their 3C, especially with their cap issues and parting ways with Jarret Stoll.

This isn't true. Not sure how you calculated the $5 mil number, but Voynov's cap hit gets treated like LTIR. They don't just get an extra $4+ mil in cap space.

They currently have ~$800k in cap space per their year end cap number (including Voynov's $4.1 mil cap hit), so suspending Voynov allows them to exceed the cap by $3.3 mil (Voynov's cap hit minus available cap space) while he is suspended.

Essentially, unless the kings trade Voynov, they are still only allowed to add $800k to their roster and remain compliant if he returns. As of right now, assuming Voynov stays suspended for the entire season, the kings currently have $4,166,667 to spend to their cap ceiling.
