16th + 38? not enough?

Interesting argument, but this is not the year to do it. They desperately need a top-line replacement on the wing to compensate for Parise. Shinkaruk is their guy, the sooner they get him in the system, the better. If they botch this for a couple late round firsts, they will regret this for years to come.

21st + Ashton for the 9th?

If the Devils pick at 13th, they could still get Shinkaruk. He's not exactly consensus 9.

I think Todd had the mid teens in mind. CBJ and Winnie are ideal trade targets.

If we could get 14th and another late first, it might actually be worth more in the end.

I wouldn't risk the future on the chance that all those teams pass up on him. Just for one more pick? If he goes off the board and we are stuck with defenders with our thumbs up our asses. Just play it safe and do the right thing.

If we could get another 2nd rounder and not drop too far back id can't say i would be angry. I do feel we need to hit a slam dunk in this draft with the first, could look back a few years a go how the (frank) did they move back? It goes the other way obviously too. Real tough call, the second 2nd rd pick can't be too far into the round like between 30-45 would be ideal.

He's not exactly "the" future... at 13, you're going to get someone as good as 9, and at 14, we can still walk away with a good forward (heck, Domi could be available at 14) and if those lower squads are targeting someone in particular, there's still some good looting in the first round.

I'd definitely do it to move to 13 and get 2 2nds out of the Jets but they won't. I don't know that I'd do it for just one of their 2nds.

If the right trade is there, do it.

Pretty much how I feel, don't want to move back too far. Real tough choice it does blow only having 4 picks in the supposed deepest draft in a decade.

Being difficult I see I doubt we'd give up three of our 4 top picks in this draft unless it was for a top 5 pick but:

16 + 38 + 2nd next year?

Not written in stone a forward is a picked. I want/expect a foward too be picked like you but wouldn't be shocked if we go with another Dman. If Nurse and Ristolanian are there at 9 I could see Lou picking one of them. Especially Nurse big and physical and is fast...sounds real appealing to me.

I'm not ruling it out either, but if that happens, I hope we go to buyout city. Salvador and Volchenkov in particular. That would make drafting a Dman more bearable.

I'm hoping we can trade Tally, and buy out Volchenkov. I'd rather us not use both our buyouts right away so might as well keep Salvador around. Actually when does the 2 amnesty buyout period end? or Does it? I really have no clue.

Leafs have loads of D in the farm.

21st + mid-level D prospect + mid-level F prospect for 9th

Better be for no more then a mill a season...It makes sense not wanting to move or not moving very far is probably what's most appealing to him. Doesn't want to relocate his family probably.

if lou lamerillo drafts a defenseman with the 9th pick, he should be fired before he gets back to the draft table. just what the devils need another defenseman to spend 3 seasons at Albany or in juniors. the pick has to be a scoring forward. if Monahan and shinkuruk are off the board trade down for extra picks and take rychel. he is a poor man's shinkuruk anyway.

According to John Vogl of Buffalo news "@BuffNewsVogl: Odds on Danny Briere's next team, according to Bovada: Devils 3-to-2, Senators 5/2, Canadiens 9/2, Sabres and Coyotes 5/1."
