I know he probably wont be going to Dallas, but I think his numbers deserve some consideration. What say you guys? |

Maybe not this year, but I think that by this time next year he will be. I think that his wrist shot is probably better than Ovies. |

He damn well should be I think. His shot is fearsome to say the least and other than that one stretch where he had something like 3 points in 8 games he's been pretty consistent too. |

I'm not sure. When are the rosters announced?
The Caps have some upcoming games against teams (Philadelphia, Florida, Tampa Bay) before the All-Star break that may put him over the top for consideration. A month ago, I would've said no. Now, it's iffy. |

It's the hardest, most accurate, and quickest release I've seen in a wrist shot from anyone this year that's for sure. I knew when I saw how he scored that hat trick right at the start of the season that he would rack up the points this year. His shot in undeniable. |

I just question how selections to be on the ballot are handled sometimes.
LW Alexander Semin WAS 38 21 19 40 3 10 0 4 0 48 129 16.3
C/LW Evgeni Malkin PIT 36 19 21 40 -2 9 0 4 1 40 127 15.0
Nearly identical numbers, with AS having a better +/-, Malkin is on the ballot, but Semin is not. It appears that hype and name recognition are the only things that matter in ballot selections.

That's true. Does Forsberg deserve to be on this year's ballot? If you look at his numbers.....no. The same can be said for several of those on the ballot. It's a popularity contest. Doesn't really matter to me though. The All-Star game is a joke anyway.

In my opinion the All-Star game is entirely based on what players did the season prior. Perfect example: Jonathan Cheechoo. Last year he was a maniac, and this year he is TERRIBLE. But...he's third on the list for Western Conference vote getters. (when I last saw the figures). It seems to be a product of prior season's numbers and media coverage. |

yeah all star selection process sucks. but i am glad briere will be getting recognition, even if it is just because the fans voted for him a lot.
so anyway, if malkin is an all-star, semin deserves to be there too. you are right about that.
so who is just loving the idea of a renewed capitals/penguins playoff rivarly in the upcoming years? i know i am. best young duos vs. each other. crosby and malkin vs. ovechkin and semin. staal and backstrom to come a bit later i suppose. |

yeah about that...
I think Backstrom and Ovechkin said they wanted to be Devils and play with Bergfors... I mean its just a rumor, but they sounded serious... I heard Semin wanted to play for Lowell, then move up too their NHL team, whoever that is |

They're annouced the 13th on CBC on Hockey Day in Canada.
I think he should make it, he's scored over a PPG all season and has been spectacular at times. If Cheechoo can make it as a starter, he should be able to grab a 4th-line spot. |

Yes, but with no all star game last year don't you think he deserves to go for being denied the chance last year? |

I thought about that beforehand and here's what I thought. He had a chance last year to make something much better than the All-Star game and he didn't. The Olympics served as a sort of All-Star showcase and he wasn't a part of it. Mind you team Canada is VERY hard to make, but that's sort of how I looked at it. Moreover, if the All Star rosters were announced on the 13th of January last year (as they are this year) he would only have had 24 goals and 15 assists; numbers which, in all likelyhood, would not have given him a spot on the All-Star roster. These two reasons alone demonstrated to me that because the All Star game wasn't played last year is not reason enough for Cheechoo to make it this year, and the fact his numbers are poor to say the least this season (including a -10 rating) I do not believe he should be there and, as I said before, it seems to be a product of where players finished last year more than anything else. |

He has also been hurt, and not only did it knock him out of some games, he also hasn't been himself since coming back |

I saw the replays, I think he's my favourite player to watch in the NHL right now. |
