White-hot Bruins going for season sweep of Islanders

In Brooklyn on the second leg of a back-to-back that began with Wednesday’s 4-1 victory over the Canadiens, the Bruins are certainly feeling themselves right now.

It seems that when the Bruins get a good shift, no matter the line or pairing, a wave of momentum carries over into the shift from the next line, and so on and so forth.

“Good teams get help from every line,” Bruins defenseman Torey Krug said. “You know when a line goes over the boards what their role is and what they’re going to do and I think right now everyone has a great idea of what their job is for this team.”

Though the B’s should probably pay some royalties to Patriots coach Bill Belichick, everybody simply ‘doing their job’ has been the secret to the success that’s pushed the Bruins to a 14-game point streak (10-0-4), and with a chance to make it 15 tonight, which would make this their first such streak of at least 15 games since a 16-gamer in 2013-14.

“That’s the biggest reason why we’ve accumulated the points we have,” said B’s coach Bruce Cassidy. “If one one line is not on, taken out of the game, unlucky or whatever the situation —that’s predominantly our leading line — then somebody else has stepped up.

“I think Krejci’s line has done a real good job offensively. We saw some fourth line production there about 10 days ago where they were contributing every night. Nash’s line has cooled off a little, but they have a tough assignment every night and they’re still pitching in. And the D is getting involved as well, so that’s a nice benefit. And when we’re not scoring, we’ve defended very well to be able to win those 2-1 games.”

"I just think that we have a good mix here," said Ryan Spooner. "We have some guys who are young that stepped up for us and that’s huge. I mean, to be one of the top teams in the league you have to have some guys that are 18, 19, 20 [years old] that are going to step up and we’ve had that so that’s been good for us."

A start for Anton Khudobin is the lone lineup change for the B’s.

The 31-year-old Khudobin stopped 29-of-32 in a 3-2 pad-stacking, overtime loss to the Stars on Monday, and enters play with a 9-2-4 record and .924 save percentage on the year. Khudobin has a 2-4-0 record in seven career games against the Islanders.

This will be the wrap on the regular-season series between the B’s and Isles. The Bruins won both prior contests, outscoring the Islanders 8-to-2 over that span.

Loose pucks: Kevan Miller, who missed Wednesday's game due to illness, did not travel with the Bruins and is questionable for Saturday vs. the Canadiens... Since Dec. 1, the Bruins have just two regulation losses, which is the fewest in the NHL. The Islanders have 12 over that same span, which is the most in the NHL... Ryan Spooner has 11 points in 13 games since returning to the Boston lineup...
