A battered group just seven games into the season, the Bruins received a slight lift today, with some of their injured bodies returning to the ice for a pre-practice skate in Brighton.

Most notably, goaltender Tuukka Rask, who suffered a concussion in a thunderous collision with Anders Bjork at practice last week, was on the ice before the start of Monday’s practice at Warrior Ice Arena, but left before the rest of the team joined, as he remains in the league’s concussion protocol.

Barring a setback, Rask will rejoin the Bruins for a full practice on Tuesday.

Although the Black and Gold’s light schedule does not include a game until this Thursday against the Sharks, Cassidy doesn’t want to get ahead of himself, and believes that Saturday against L.A. is a more likely return date for the 30-year-old Rask, who has missed the last two games.

Kevan Miller, injured in a fight with the Canucks’ Derek Dorsett in last Thursday’s 6-3 victory over the Canucks, was also on the ice, and seems to be progressing well.

Miller himself noted that he had a visit with the doctors and received ‘good news’ today.

Per Cassidy, Miller has progressed more than David Krejci (upper-body).

Noel Acciari, out with a left index finger fracture suffered on opening night, was also on the ice.

Center Patrice Bergeron, who missed the first five games of the season with a lower-body injury, was also not on the ice, but Cassidy insisted that it’s merely a maintenance day for the Bruins’ most important forward. The 32-year-old Bergeron has one goal and four points in two games so far.
