Cruising into the weekend, enjoy this collection of statistics from around the National Hockey League. Some you may be aware of -- others, not so much.

Did You Know?

-- Ottawa Senators save percentage when Stephane Da Costa(22 GP) was on the ice -- .795. That's dead last in the NHL at or over the twenty-game mark.

-- On other side of Stephane Da Costa's .795 is Paul Byron of Calgary. When he was on the ice, Flames had a .981 save percentage.

-- Eric Boulton(0.00, 51GP) and Nino Niederreiter(0.87, 55GP) had hysterically poor on-ice shot percentages. Boulton, literally, was never on ice for a marker at even-strength.

-- Colorado's David Van der Gulik trailed only Sidney Crosby in on-ice shot percentage at 14.67%. Team cooked when he was over the boards.

[sub-note: Van der Gulik was pretty terrible, though, so speaks volumes about how rest of team managed to perform w/ him out there in 25 GP.]

-- Three players who finished the highest percentage of shifts in the offensive zone: Matt Kassian(MIN), Daniel Sedin(VAN), and Henrik Sedin(VAN).

-- Only three players finished sub-forty percent with respect to offensive zone finishes in 20+ GP -- Steve Kampfer(MIN), Colton Teubert(EDM), and Jay Beagle(WSH).

-- NHL's biggest even-strength penalty magnet last year? Zac Rinaldo. Sixty-six games played, 3.1 Penalties Taken // 60.

[sub-note: In fairness, Rinaldo drew the second-most penalties at even strength(2.3 // 60) -- trailing only Jeff Skinner(2.5 // 60).]

-- Three players who (probably) held back quality teams last year: Gregory Campbell(BOS), Brooks Orpik(PIT), and Brad Stuart(DET). Their Corsi Off's all ranked inside of the top-ten, meaning the team was far more productive as a unit when they were on the sidelines.

-- Five best players at ES goal-scoring last year // sixty minutes? (1) Stamkos; (2) Malkin; (3) Pacioretty; (4) Ryder; (5) Toews.

-- Three players who benefited tremendously from high secondary assist totals last year: Jamie Benn, Henrik Sedin, Joe Thornton.

-- Points // Sixty Minutes: Ottawa's Jason Spezza finished sixth-overall (2.88). Crosby, Malkin, Eberle, Stamkos, Benn your top-five.

-- One of those numbers that just feels right: On average for Ottawa, Milan Michalek(27.4%), Nick Foligno(28.1%) shots traveled least distance.

-- Jason Spezza slap shot shooting percentage: 1.9%. Wrist shot shooting percentage: 10.8%. Snap shot shooting percentage: 12.9%.

-- Zack Smith(!) slap shot shooting percentage: 13.0%. Let this man cook from deep -- team best!

-- The Philadelphia Flyers spent 25% of each hockey game either up or down a man. Dead last in even strength TOI.

-- Meanwhile, the New York Islanders spent 83% of their game at even strength, running a -49G deficit in the process.

-- Patrick Sharp (8) and Keith Yandle (7) accredited with the most slap shot goals last season.

-- James Neal (11) and Phil Kessel (9) accredited w/ most snap shot goals last season.

-- Steven Stamkos (25) led the way with wrist-shot goals.

-- League average save percentage last year at ES was about .921. Tampa Bay? .899.

-- No player was on the ice for more ES offensive zone face-off wins than Erik Karlsson at 299. Dan Boyle(289), Henrik Sedin(285) close.
