Calgary Flames GM Brad Treliving has a lot of items on his to-do list this off-season.

Among them is deciding which pending unrestricted free agents he'd like to keep and which ones he feels the team can live without.

While Jakub Nakladal isn't an irreplaceable player, he has proven to be a good one and is someone I think the Flames should re-sign.

Playing primarily on the 3rd pairing Nakladal more than held his own over his first (and only) stint in the NHL.

His counting totals (five points in 27 games) certainly don't stand out but, over time, a lot more good than bad happened when he was on the ice.

As you can see the Flames were a much better team at 5 v 5 with Nakladal on the ice.

It's worth noting that a) it was only a 27 game sample size and; b) he was playing sheltered minutes against softer competition but the results remain encouraging nonetheless.

He has proven he can at least be a bottom-pairing option at the NHL level and the Flames can surely get him locked up for pennies.

As such, I think they'd be smart to bring him back.
