Earlier this week the London Knights announced the signing of several players, including New Jersey Devils prospect Jesper Bratt.
Bratt, a 6th round pick of the Devils in 2016, was London's first of two selections in the 2017 CHL import draft.
Bratt signed his entry-level deal with the Devils in May and rumors immediately kicked into gear he'd be playing in North America this season, be it in the AHL or OHL. Clearly, we have our answer.
The undersized winger possesses high-end puck skills, which were recently put on display during the World Junior Summer Showcase.
You could certainly argue he'd be better served facing tougher competition -- be it in Europe or the AHL -- but there are benefits to the OHL route.
In London, Bratt will get more ice time than he would in Sweden or Binghamton while playing for a powerhouse team coached by someone with NHL experience, both as a player and a coach.
Suffice to say, he's still found himself in a pretty good situation.
I look forward to the live viewings of Bratt I'll get this season. He should fit in nicely on a highly skilled Knights team.
