Stefan Matteau is making waves in the QMJHL, but for all the wrong reasons.

The 19-year-old forward has quit his QMJHL team, Blaineville-Boisbriand Armada, according to RDS. Matteau reportedly quit after being unhappy about being benched during Game 2 of the Armada's series against Baie-Comeau.

He traveled back to Blaineville-Boisbriand on the fan bus and not with the team.

The team held a press conference today to announce that they have released Matteau from the team.

Matteau, the New Jersey Devils 1st round pick in the 2012 draft, has had a very up and down year between serving suspensions in the QMJHL, being cut from USA's World Junior team and playing on the top line in the NHL with the Devils.

What will come of this remains to be seen, but Matteau's days with the Armada are done. You can expect that he'll be hearing from Devils GM, Lou Lamoriello, in the near future.
