Three players within the New Jersey Devils organization have jumped ship and signed overseas within the last week, and there apparently is another notable player considering the option.

Reports have recently surfaced that 21-year-old defenseman Adam Larsson may be looking at playing in Sweden next season.

Devils beat writer Rich Chere went to Lou Lamoriello for his comments on the rumors.

"I don’t have any knowledge of that,” Lamoriello said.

He denied there is any concern over losing Larsson.

“Not at all,” Lamoriello said.

Chere mentioned that Larsson expressed interest in playing overseas, but in the interview I believe Chere was referencing Larsson clearly stated he wanted to play in New Jersey next season.

Translation via Petter Carnbro, who runs a Swedish hockey blog entitled Numerärt Övertag.

Since a few weeks back Adam is back home in Skellefteå, and the question many are asking is where he plays hockey in the fall.

- I had a great talk with the Devils before I left and they’d come back to me in a few weeks.

What are you hoping for when they do come back to you?

- Obviously it’s a one-way deal I want, that’s my goal.

What do you say about the SHL and a possible comeback in Skellefteå AIK?

- Well, that’d been a lot of fun, I’m not closing any doors at all, says Adam Larsson and continues:

- But I’m not going to decide anything until the Devils come back to me. After that we’ll see what happens.

As you'll see in those translations, Larsson made it quite clear that his intention is to play with the Devils next season. He wants to play in the NHL, and more or less said he's not coming overseas unless the Devils don't give him an opportunity to play in the NHL next season.

Larsson isn't waiver exempt meaning regardless of the next contract he signs he'd have to clear waivers in order to be sent down. Larsson would never clear waivers, so Larsson will be playing in the NHL next season whether for the Devils or another franchise if they elect to make him available via trade this summer.

Lamoriello said he's not worried about Larsson heading overseas, and at this point I don't think there's much reason to be.
