Devils will trade for Dman @ deadline if in race, Mills waived, other notes |

Based on everything I've heard up until this point, the sense I'm getting is that Devils President and General Manager Lou Lamoriello will make a move for a defenseman if they're in the playoff hunt when the trade deadline roles around. I'm hearing when the time comes, if necessary, the Devils would like a reliable veteran defenseman who can still play. Tim Gleason and Toni Lydman are a couple players that come to mind. Obviously there is a lot of time before the trade deadline, but if they're still in the hunt when it rolls around he's the type of player they would want to add.
Here are some other Devils notes:
- Brad Mills was placed on waivers by New Jersey today. Tom Gulitti is reporting that Mills will be sent to Albany if he clears. I can see why Mills was waived. At the start of the season, as Lou Lamoriello pointed out, Mills was playing with a lot of edge and energy. Over the past little while he has not been as effective. Eric Boulton is back with the team now and Tim Sestito, who was recently called up, has played very well so this move shouldn't be a surprise to anyone.
- The Devils sent defenseman Alexander Urbom back to Albany today. He was brought up to bring depth to their defense since Andy Greene was banged up. Since it appears Greene will be fine and ready to play tomorrow, this move also makes sense.
