Shortly after Lou Lamoriello and the New Jersey Devils parted ways Lou's son, Chris, did the same.
Chris was part of the Devils' organization for upwards of 20 years and spent the vast majority of it running their AHL affiliate while also doing some scouting.
When Ray Shero took over he brought in Tom Fitzgerald as Assistant GM and gave him the keys to Albany, which likely is part of the reason Chris decided to move on.
Less than a year after doing so Chris has found a new gig; this time with a division rival.
#isles have hired Chris Lamoriello as director of player personnel.
It's no surprise Lamoriello held out for a while before accepting a new gig. He surely didn't want just any job and was looking for an important role where he'll have some say. He has just that with the Islanders.
The Devils have turned the page, and are in a good spot right now, but it feels strange to me that the Lamoriellos, who were with the Devils for 30 and (almost) 20 years respectively, now hold key positions with the Toronto Maple Leafs and New York Islanders.
