In a shocking turn of events Bob Hartley, who seemed like a lock to be back behind the bench next season, has been let go by the Calgary Flames.

This comes just days after Bruce Boudreau was fired by the Anaheim Ducks and, while nothing is set in stone, I don't think that is any coincidence.

I recently wrote that, while the Flames seemed higher on Hartley than most other people, they should seriously consider making a coaching change and taking a serious run at Boudreau.

Say what you want about the guy but he has eight division titles in eight full seasons as a head coach and his playoff record is over .500.

If the Flames can somehow land Boudreau I think that'd be a significant upgrade behind the bench. Either way, I think moving on from Hartley was the right decision moving forward.

It'll be interesting to see how this plays out.
