Penguins in Seven

That's my pick, yep. (Misspelled "Seven" as "Six" earlier).

The Flyers inability to concentrate for 60 minutes - their recurring A.D.D. in games _ cost them home ice against the Penguins and the way I see it, will cost them the series.

All throughout the season, I was waiting for the Flyers to get serious. I thought they had turned the proverbial corner of Broad & Pattison with 2 weeks left to play.

I was wrong. Their apathetic approach to games down the stretch bothered me, worst than their horrendous third period against the Rangers on Sunday when they kissed the fourth seed bye-bye after holding onto it for more than two months!

There is no "edge" to the Flyers right now.

Watching the tapes of the Penguins in recent games, I can say, that Pittsburgh has an "edge" to it similar to the Flyers last season scrambling to make the playoffs. Everyone on board. Whatever it takes.

“I remember the conference finals [last year] and how loud it was in there and the atmosphere and we definitely have to weather this storm,” Scott Hartnell told me this afternoon, with affection and longing because that is the way it was supposed to be here at the Wac!

Except it's gonna be at the Igloo.

"It’s important for us to have a good start," Hartnell said.

Where the personality on this club when you need it? Will it appear in Pittsburgh?

My biggest fear in this series is the Flyers' defense just collapsing under pressure.

Randy Jones can't pivot. His right hip is that bad.

Ryan Parent says his groin pull is fine. Just like we thought Danny Briere's groin pull was fine.

Braydon Coburn ... can anyone tell me where he left his one-timer? What city is it in?
Who is the guy filling his skates these days, turning the puck over again and again in his own end? That's not the Coburn we all saw last season.

Marty Biron seems totally relaxed. Good, he better be.

He got a little edgy with Mr. Fish (Wayne Fish) today, and really laid it on the line when myself, Sam Donnellon and Chuck Berry, err, Gormley, pressed him on the subject of the perception that the Flyers will never win because of their goaltending.

And why Biron needs to make this a defining moment to get a new contract. It was 20 minutes of Ultimate Marty. The FLyers could make a DVD out of it. I had to edit it down to get it under 10,000 words.

Anyway, Marty's rant and everything else is my War & Peace version of the Panotch Playoff Prevue now running in HD (High Dialogue) on CSNPhilly.com.
