I just spoke to Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren and he told me that Danny Briere's abdominal surgery went "really well."

Here's the twist. Briere, it turns out, had TWO, small tears in his abdominal cavity, and not one, as the MRI showed this week. It was orignally believed Briere had just one tear on his left side.

Specialist William Meyers performed the surgery at Hahnemann University Hospital. When he cut Briere, he saw tears on both sides.

Holmgren said the original prognosis stands: Briere is expected to miss between 3-4 weeks.
