Biron? No Way.

TSN reporting that Biron holds the magical key in Flyerdom to get JayBo.

Nope. Nothing has changed w/Biron waiving his no-trade. He says the Flyers have never asked him and as recently as today, that hasn't changed. I asked him would he do it to go back to Buffalo and he was non-committal.

“I was never asked," he said. "I don’t know what I would say. I would cross that bridge when I get there.”

Flyer sources tell me the club is not looking to take this angle on getting JayBo. I still maintain that to do this, the Flyers have to deal Joffrey Lupul, Matt Carle and a major prospect. That clears the necessary cap space and gets JayBo.

But Biron? Nope.

Things quiet in Boston as the trade deadline looms tomorrow.

Claude Giroux is back and he said at the morning skate he understands why he became a salary cap victim and his being sent to the Phantoms had nothing to do with his play.

“It’s normal, it happens in the world of hockey, I guess,” Giroux said. “I talked to Homer a little bit. I went down to the Phantoms for one game. Obviously, there is a cap problem with the Flyers but we really didn’t talk about it.

“I knew Danny would be back and the cap was real close and I kinda thought about it, but I wasn’t sure it would happen."

Getting Giroux back was made possible when Kimmo Timonen said he was healthy enough to play. That allowed the club to send Nate Guenin and Jared Ross back to the Phantoms.

John Stevens said he will play Giroux with Danny Briere and Scottie Upshall. He thinks Giroux will open tonight's game against the Bruins at center with Briere on wing. Briere will take faceoffs given his experience.

“We’re kinda anxious to see him and Danny play together," Stevens said. "They seem to have good chemistry and read off each other. They look great in practice. I’m anxious to see them together in a game.”
