Briere Won't Be Back Till ... Carter Update

Okay, so Jeff Carter was bothered by the flu over the weekend, finished the game, went to the Flyers Wives "Fight for Lives" Carnival feeling ill, but persevered and took only a few reps today.

Coach John Stevens said Carter needed "some rest" but will play Tuesday in Washington.

Interesting. Danny Briere insisted to me that he was sked to take a lot of reps today. But he was the 4th forward on the Carter line, meaning he gets the odd shift as the injured player, rehabbing.

Briere had to take 3/4 of the practice subbing for Carter, then had to do sprints, etc., afterward and was tired, winded and a little sore. As he should be.

Briere said he won't rule himself out of Wednesday against the LA KIngs but look for him Friday against Montreal.

"There is a bigger chance I’ll be in the lineup on Friday," he said.

Jeff Carter left the ice early at today's practice. Could be the flu ... Danny Briere replaced him on that refurbished line of S. Hartnell and S. Upshall.
