Sharks' offense showing signs of life; Will it continue?

Much has been made about the San Jose Sharks (16-10-3) lack of offense and for good reason. They have scored the second fewest goals (79l) in the Western Conference (AZ 74g). But, that narrative  may be fading away, because the recent homestand seems to indicate a shift in the clubs offensive game.

In the last three games, all at the Tank, San Jose scored 13 goals while earning five of a possible six points (2-0-1).  Not only are they scoring goals, but they are doing it falling down by multiple goals. Earlier in the season, a three-goal deficit was a death sentence. In this homestand alone, the Sharks bit back rallying from two three-goal deficits.

The homestand started with a confidence boosting win over the Carolina Hurricanes. San Jose fell behind by three goals two times before they rallied for a 5-4 overtime victory. They followed that up with a complete undressing of Ottawa, 5-0. In the final game of the set, they climbed out of another three goal hole before succumbing 4-3 in overtime against Minnesota.

There's more than just an uptick in the offense to feel good about. It's where the offense is coming from that should have the teal and black fanbase all giggly inside.

The big guns are showing signs off life for the first time this season.

Brent Burns appears to finally be putting his game together. Last season's Norris Trophy winner, scored three of his four goals this season on the homestand. In fact, Burns has six points (3g 3a) over the three games.

Tomas Hertl has four points (2g 2a) of his own, including goals in back-to-back games.

Joe Pavelski, is showing signs of life too with four points (1g 3a) in three games.

While, Jumbo Joe Thornton pitched in with five points (1g 4a) of his own.

With San Jose's heavy-hitters finally punching back, it's going to be hard for Vegas and Los Angeles to hold them back. San Jose remains third in the Pacific Division with eight points seperating first and third. The Sharks have two games in hand on both Vegas and L.A.

Everypoint is paramount leading up to the Christmas break and San Jose can't afford to leave any on the table. The Sharks must not leave the offense at home with a challenging three-game road trip through Western Canada kicking off later this week.

What do you think? Is the offense coming alive for good or do need to see them do it on the road first?
