Before taking on the Blues in St. Louis this evening, the Sharks had a little off-ice business to take care off. The team acquired center Eric Fehr from the Leafs for a 7th round pick in 2020.

Fehr address the Sharks biggest need at the deadline - a fourth-line center. It's a low-risk, high-reward type of move. They didn't have to give up much and they added a former STanley Cup winner for the playoff run.

Not only does this move give San Jose some much needed depth up front - it also helps the Leafs free up some space for their deadline needs. A win, win.

The 32-year-old has 202 points (103g 99a) in 566 career NHL games. He didn't see much time in the NHL this season. He only played in four games for Toronto. Instead, he spent most of this season in San Diego, collecting 17 goals and 28 points in 34 games.

The veteran forward is in the final year of his current three-year, $6-million deal.

Everybody loves the blockbuster deals, but these are the deals that bring home playoff success. San Jose is in second place in the Pacific Division, but only three points separates them from ninth place.
