Sharks Game Day: Islanders and Tavares invade the Tank

Tonight the San Jose Sharks host the equally disappointing New York Islanders. Both clubs enter the tilt with one win under its belt and both team sit in 7th place of it respective division.

San Jose is coming off a nice win against Buffalo. It was the Sharks most complete game of the season and one to build off. No doubt Pete Deboer will continue to tinker with his lineup throughout the season, but he may have found a keeper in the line of Joonas Donskoi, Chris Tierney and Timo Meier. The trio had a big game on Thursday and look to continue that success against a NYI squad that's lost its last two.

The Sharks should be aided by a slew of injuries behest upon the Islanders. New York's other team will be without the services of new comer Jordan Eberle and tough guy Cal Clutterbuck.

If the Sharks string together wins tonight and Tuesday vs. Montreal, in a similar fashion to the win over Buffalo, our early season narrative starts to shift. Instead of looking like an aging, fading club, they look more like a team building a new identity - I'd prefer to write about the latter all day long.

New York is led offensively by John Tavares. The Islanders captain is tied for the team lead with two goals and three points. Tavares is the subject of numerous trade rumors and many of those rumors suggest the Sharks could be a nice fit for the 27-year-old star. It sounds like a pipe dream but definitely something we should be paying attention to going forward.

So what's is going to be? Two wins in a row for SJ? Or do the Islanders get their second win of the year? No guesses here, what say you?
