While the rest of the hockey world is focused on what type of syrup Jimmy Vesey will use on his pancakes today, I have an obligation to fulfill.

There is this little matter of a countdown I need to get back up and running. So, here it is...No. 21 on my count down of memorable moments during the 2015-16 San Jose Sharks season is....*drum roll*.... Patrick Marleau scoring his 1,000th career regular season point, all in a Sharks' uni.

Chances are if you ask somebody with half a brain anything about the San Jose Sharks they are going to mention Marleau. The 36-year-old veteran has played nearly 1,600 games (regular season and playoffs combined) in Northern California. That in itself is quite a feat. Not because he plays up North, but because he has only ever put on one NHL jersey.

Personally, I have tremendous respect for players that stick with one franchise for the entirety of their career. Whether or not Marleau finishes his career with the Sharks remains to be seen, but for now it is what it is.

Marleau, a veteran of 18 NHL seasons, had his milestone night on Nonmember 21, 2015 on the road against the eventual Stanley Cup Champion, Pittsburgh Penguins.

His 1,000th point came way of a helper, picking up an assist on a Brent Burns' goal midway through the first period.

Marleau's feed to Joel Ward was stopped by Penguins goalie Marc-Andre Fleury. But the rebound found a wide-open Burns, who buried the puck for a 1-0 Sharks lead.

Marleau Became the 83rd NHL player — and one of only six active (at the time) players — to reach 1,000 regular season points, joining future Hall-of-Famers Jaromir Jagr (1868), teammate Joe Thornton (1341), Jarome Iginla (1273), Patrik Elias (1025) and Marian Hossa (1089).

Marleau has played in 1,411 NHL regular season games following the 15-16 season. He now has 481 goals and 555 assists.

Marleau is in the final year of his current 4-year deal and is only 19 regular season goals away from reaching 500 for his career. Only 43 others can say they have scored 500 regular season goals in the NHL. If he were to get there next season his would be in some very exclusive company as only one of a handful of players to get there with one team.
