The crowd at practice this morning was a stunner.

A hot team, a Saturday morning, and a holiday combined for some sight. Gerard Gallant compared it to Toronto and Montreal open practice crowds.

Anyway, everybody was accounted for today. Marc-Andre Fleury stayed late to take some shots, so there's some speculation that Subban will start tomorrow afternoon against Toronto. We'll see, but I consider that highly unlikely.

On Thursday night's broadcast, NBC Sports color commentator Jim Fox shared this observation:

I talked to Deryk Engelland, Jonathan Marchessault, Brendan Leipsic, and Gallant about this. Leipsic also discussed his friendship with Teemu Selanne and by how much he lost the locker room fantasy football championship to Cody Eakin.

HockeyBuzz: Is the Vegas bench the noisiest you been around, in terms of helping each other with the play?

Jonathan Marchessault: Oh, yeah. On the ice, some times, it's hard to always talk. I'm a guy who talks a lot.

Gerard Gallant: He's probably talking about Ryan McGill yelling all the time. (laughs)

Brendan Leipsic: Yeah, we've got a couple of noisy guys. Sometimes, not the greatest noise. (laughs)

Deryk Engelland: You have that on any team. If you see something they could do a little different or something, everybody's going to help out. It's no different here.

GG: Our players are communicating all the time. They have fun on the bench. It's a serious bench, but they're talking, they're communicating, they're trying to help each other out.

BL: We've got a fun team. Guys are always supporting each other, holding each other accountable.

DE: The excitement on our bench has been great all year. After a long summer, you don't really remember other benches.

HB: What does it mean when you have a vocal bench?

JM: I remember in Tampa, guys weren't talking on the bench. It was dead a little bit.

Every team is different. Tampa is a pretty good team. So that must be good for them. But personally, I like when guys are involved, guys are in it. It's good for our hockey team.

HB: When you're on the ice, can you actually hear the bench? It really helps?

BL: We do. It's a second pair of eyes, right? You can't have enough guys talking to you.

JM: It makes it so much easier. It's good, in the zone, helping out each other. We're trying to do every little thing to get better.

HB: Who's the loudest guy on the bench?

JM: Schmitty and Perry. I talk a lot, I think.

BL: It could be Schmidt. It could be Perron. Perron, I think. Oh, but I sit at the forwards' side.

Cody Eakin: Turk!

BL: Oh yeah, [Gallant] can get loud. But if I had to pick a player, it probably would be Perron.

GG: No, no, I'm pretty quiet. (laughs)

HockeyBuzz: So can you talk more about the relationship between yourself and Teemu?

Brendan Leipsic: Going back to the Winnipeg days, my mom was really good friends with his wife. Kind of like a family friendship that they've had. They've kept in touch ever since. Just kind of cool for them to be there, had my parents in the stands too. It was a good night.

HB: I understand your No. 13 is in his honor?

BL: Not really. I think they made it out to be that way. It's more of a coincidence than anything. 13 was available. It just happened to be Teemu's number.

It's a cool relationship. Really nothing more than that. Just so happened that we knew each other when I was a young kid.

HB: So how badly did you lose the locker room fantasy football championship to Cody?

BL: I lost pretty bad, just because Todd Gurley had 60 points. I think I lost by 60 points.
