It's a balmy 93 degrees here in Anaheim, as the Golden Knights prepare for tonight's divisional tilt against the Ducks.

Despite a strong game against the Kings, Tomas Nosek gets a seat tonight. Oscar Lindberg draws in.

"Just giving guys a chance to play," indicated Gallant. Jon Merrill will also sit tonight.

Maxime Lagace, who has won back-to-back starts, gets the call again tonight.

One morning skate observation: Vegas did some brief power play drills, and Shea Theodore took Nate Schmidt's place on the top unit with David Perron, James Neal, Erik Haula, and Jonathan Marchessault. Brad Hunt and Colin Miller, per usual, supported Alex Tuch, Reilly Smith, and William Karlsson. We'll see if this all holds true later.

Since we're in Anaheim, it's appropriate to talk some Paul Kariya.

David Perron played with Kariya in St. Louis and lit up when talking about the 2017 Hockey Hall of Fame inductee.

HockeyBuzz: Paul Kariya was a teammate of yours in St. Louis during your first three seasons. Of course, he was just inducted into the Hall of Fame. Did he have an impact on your career?

David Perron: Absolutely. He was unbelievable to me. Showing me many things, details of the game to keep improving every single day.

He was ahead of his time. All the recovery stuff that we're doing right now. The foam rollers, massages, things like that, he was doing that back in the day. Not many guys were doing that back then. He was phenomenal that way.

He was very detail-oriented. His passion for the game, coming to the rink everyday, coming to work. Every day was fun to play with him.

HB: I talked to your Blues teammate Roman Polak about Kariya. He said that Kariya was more particular about his equipment than anybody else that Polak has ever played with. What was your experience with that?

DP: I think now the gear comes and we have so many different options. Back then, they had less options. They had to customize everything.

Just for example, players were playing with a wood stick for such a long time, then they moved to one-piece sticks. [Because it was new,] guys all had [to customize] different curves. But now, the way that one-piece sticks work, there are eight different curves. Most guys grow up with those curves and stick with them. You don't see too many different curves anymore from young guys coming in. But for that reason, that generation was more [specific] about their equipment.

HB: Which Golden Knight is the most particular about his equipment?

DP: I'm pretty detailed too. I have the same shoulder pads since I was 12.

But for the most part, there's not one guy who sticks out that way.
