Jay Bouwmeester... Many teams want this guy but for the next 3 days only one has a chance to sign him. Can the Flames do it? Can they make it work with the cap? Well, you'd have to think that the Flames will sign him or they wouldn't have made the trade and for how they make the numbers fit... That's where things might get interesting.

Brandon Prust is back! The gritty winger has been re-aquired by the organization for Jim Vandermeer. The move is obviously a way to shed some salary but with the young defenseman coming up and the limited room the team has, it's a move that should fit well for the team. Prust liked it here and was disappointed when he was moved last year, he should provide some grit and speed for the third/fourth lines.

Tim Erixon was the Flames first pick at #23 after they moved down from #20. Interesting side-bar is that his name bar was actually sewn onto his jersey instead on the usual velcro. If nothing else, that should tell you that the organization got the guy they wanted all along. He's currently playing against men in Sweeden's Elite league in division 1 and may even have an ouside chance of making a splash at training camp this year. Of course with guys like Pelech, Negrin, and Aulie already in the system he'll have a tough battle but depending on how the rest of the offseason works out, this team may be utalizing a couple young players on the back end.

If nothing else. Darryl has sure made the few days between the draft and the free-agency period a lot more interesting for Flames fans!!!

Have a great day!
