Why Is Tanner Glass?

One of my favorite arguments is when people try to justify untalented hacks in the NHL based on some arbitrary dated code of protecting players. "You see if this tough guy wasn't around then things would get out of control".

For my simple counter argument I give to you Tanner Glass.

Tanner Glass is one of the worst players in the NHL. In fact he might be the worst as there is an actual evaluation metric tool that that is named after him.

So if he isn't good at the hockey part of things he must be really great at deterring all the cheap stuff considering he gets multi-year contract deals

Well, about that...

Here is the video evidence

His verbal threat that was supposed to deter future dirty behavior was ignored and five seconds later fellow meathead Zac Rinaldo buried one of his guys as a big FU to Glass.

Tanner Glass isn't even good at the one thing he is supposed to be good at.

Remember you need Tanner Glass type players around so that they can protect other players from Jiri Tlusy, wait what?! This from earlier in the preseason.

Tanner Glass has no skill at the hockey thing and also isn't good at the made up thing he is supposed to be good at.

We can stop pretending that dirty hacks are a deterrent to dirty play on the ice. Stop signing these guys so the players we do want to watch don't get hurt.
