Over the past 48 hours Phil Kessel brought the Stanley Cup home to his native hometown of Madison, Wisconsin, but he also took advantage of his time with the trophy to bring it back to Toronto.

It was big news when Phil Kessel announced he was going to bring the Stanley Cup back to Toronto. What was he going to do with it? People like myself were hoping he would load the thing up with hot dogs and take a photo with hot dog vendor made famous by a Toronto columnist who was caught in a lie.

In classic Phil fashion he was nondescript with his plans and did not make any official public appearances with the Stanley Cup. He instead brought thrill to the sick children of Toronto.

This was a very selfless act by a player who is beloved by those who get to know him. Phil Kessel being a former cancer survivor himself knows exactly how some of these kids feel and to give back with something as special as the Stanley Cup is something not everybody can do, but he can and did. Actions speak louder than words which you could say has been the theme of his career to this point.

Breaking away from the heartfelt sentiment of the blog you'll notice that Phil Kessel's right hands is wrapped up. That is from the surgery he just recently had performed. The prognosis is good and he should be ready to go by the time training camp rolls around.
