The All Star Game is in the books and it is time to get back to regular 5v5 NHL action tonight. Pittsburgh will play host to PK Subban and the Nashville Predators this evening. They will still be without Evgeni "not one of the 100 best players" Malkin tonight. He is still nursing an injury. Coach Mike Sullivan had some positive things to say on that front.

It appears Malkin has avoided a serious injury. He and Matt Cullen did some skating before practice today

Here is the video evidence of Geno's session

Sidney Crosby did not skate this morning and who could blame him for taking the option to not skate today? He actually flew out of Los Angeles after the All Star Game and arrived back in Pittsburgh at 1:30AM. He was at practice in Pittsburgh yesterday.

While Evgeni Malkin may not be joining the team tonight another Penguins star may be. Kris Letang was at practice and has been labeled a game-time decision. I bet he could have played last Thursday, but I like that they held him out of game action to get him some extra rest. I would be very surprised if he was not back in the lineup tonight. Chad Ruhwedel stayed on the ice so it looks as though Letang is good to go.

If you are curious about how the Penguins are playing in the defensive zone Jesse Marshall of The Pensblog put together a very detailed piece about it. You can find that in the link below.

Here is how both Pittsburgh and Nashville have been trending on the possession front this year. Pittsburgh is green and Nashville is blue

Matt Murray was the first goalie off the ice. He will start yet again. For those keeping track it is number seven in a row.
