The Avalanche on Sunday reduced the roster to 30 players, which includes injured forward Mikko Rantanen, who is recovering from a sprained ankle.

Left wing A.J. Greer was among nine players who were assigned to the San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League. Greer was a second-round pick (No. 39) in the 2015 NHL draft. The others:

Goalies Spencer Martin and Jeremy Smith; centers Turner Elston, Samuel Henley and Jim O'Brien; left wing Troy Bourke; right wing Joe Whitney; and defenseman Ryan Stanton.

Gabriel Bourque and Rene Bourque, both on a professional tryout, remain on the Avalanche roster, along with defenseman Duncan Siemens (No. 11 pick in 2011) and forward J.T. Compher, who was acquired from Buffalo in the Ryan O'Reilly trade
