What's the Next Move for the Jets

I've been away for a bit, back at work and am just putting my brain together thinking about hockey, something I try not to do in July. However, there are still many questions about the Jets because Kevin Cheveldayoff has been so active.

That's not something said often in the off season.

So Jack Roslovic signs his first pro deal and now has 3 options on where he might play next season. First he makes the Jets and some believe he can as he was the best player in rookie camp based on many fans' and media observations. The competition, with Roslovic in the mix, for the bottom six in the roster is the best it's ever been since Atlanta moved to Winnipeg. In fact it's so deep that one has to wonder how good that will be in a few years if nothing changes? Will players get frustrated?

Jacob Trouba is still unsigned and as I soaked up some heat and music this past weekend the texts and DMs started happening: "is it true he wants out?" "Why is all this noise about Trouba happening now?" and "Do you believe that he's unhappy in Winnipeg?"

Out of all of it I beige one thing: that this situation should have been wrapped up already, but clearly it's not. What would I do? I'd bridge him and trade him if he has said he wants nothing to do with Winnipeg anymore. By getting him on a bridge deal it might make him easier to trade but at the same time not having a long term deal may hamper other GMs interest too.

There is still a goalie issue and some fans are almost amazed that Connor Hellebuyck might spend the majortiy of his season on the farm. I'd be surprised if he played that much there as it's like that one or both Jets goalies play with injuries and why should the coach be afraid to offend anyone now?

The roster is going to be fantastic thing to watch come training camp. There will be players who might try anything to make the team and it's one thing the Jets have lacked for some time. Think of this as a problem: Petan, Armia, Burmistrov, Dano, Roslovic, Tanev, Lemieux, Connor, Lowry and Copp all have to fight for 6 positions. This might really put Chris Thorburn out of work!

Who would you choose for the bottom six out of those 10 and knowing that Thorburn lurks int he background?

Finally what changes will we see come out of the special teams situation with an adjusted coaching staff? That was where the Jets' Achilles heel lay last year and it's the number one thing they have to work on like goaltending every year. Shore up those two areas and I'm very curious to see if a large injection of youth hurts them as much some would suggest, or at least between last season and the upcoming one.

It will likely quiet down no for some time until the Trouba elephant in the room is gone and don't expect that to happen soon.
