Here is the link with statement from Jacob Trouba's agent Kurt Overhardt:

TROUBA REQUESTS TRADE

The part that shouts worry Jets fans about the GM and the organizational management is this:

There has been no negotiation regarding the terms of a contract between our client and the Jets over the course of the last several months. The situation is not about money; it is solely about our client having the opportunity to realize his potential as a right shot NHL defenseman.

No negotiate and the fact that Trouba has been buried alongside Mark Stuart and feels he's suffered. Yes it's true that Trouba has played the second most minutes behind Buff of any Jets defence man last year but look who he's with! That being said- the part that was whispered about was that very little progress was being made and now with camp opening on the first big Saturday night for the WCH Trouba's agent drops this bomb.

The Jets must be reeling- but only to a point.

They likely knew this was coming and have done some preparation and if that means nothing than I guess that should not be surprising given the words from Overhardt above.

Grab a cold one and jump into your GM chair because this should be a wild ride. Who would take Trouba for Hamonic now?

Here's the catch- Chevy cannot panic and rush, even if the team falters to start the season. If the relationship is over his only job is to maximize value for that player. Perhaps a hockey trade? Who knows but it's likely that to get the type of roster he wants more moves than trading Trouba will have to be made.
