Saturday morning update:

With the 60th pick the Jets take Swedish centre David Gustafsson who had 6 goals and 6 assists in the SEL last year at age 17. He's big, strong and seen as a two-way centre so add him to the depth chart with Spacek, Appleton, and others.

Here's what Elite Prospects writes.

Kevin Cheveldayoff had something to say after the first round last night. It's a bit of Chevy speak but it also gives some insight on how the team is addressing the wait and watch until pick 60.

BREAKING: how does the Avs acquiring Grubauer affect the Jets? It certainly could shore up the Avs in net as once Varlamov went down there was not much there with Bernier when it mattered. Sakic making interesting insurance moves.

Now about the Orpik inclusion? Yeesh
---------------------------------------------------------------------

This is where I will put updates and info throughout the draft tonight and tomorrow.

First, one thing that came in today was this nice bit of information from Ken Wiebe:

If the Jets are indeed thinking this way it would mean the Jets blue line would look like this:

Morrissey Trouba (if both signed)
Myers Byfuglien (not sure about that)
Kulikov Poolman

Niku
Chiarot

The obvious issue right now is the Jets have 14 players under contract and 26 million in cap space for the remaining 9. That's not even an average of 3 million per player (not that the players get an average). The simple reality is that the Jets in the minds of many need to reduce some salary and they have one key player to do it with- Myers.

This is a moment for Chevy to shine and get creative- let's see what he can do with it. Stay tuned.
